Amen! Someone referred to folk as:- "that shit that almost caught on in the 60's" I'm a sucker for nice chord changes though. The standards had lots and I much prefer Motown R&B to the Nashville for the same reason (jazz influence was responsible for that I've been told). Hahaha, that's a line I'll remember.

I will wear black pants LOL. teasing each other about food and candy is kind of funny however a bit offensive. But you have to play, aint no machine made that can duplicate your style. Your not one of the better drummers I have played with, You are The very BEST DRUMMER I have had the pleasure to work with. TonyJ

Just a quick comment in reply to Kit's post on the original Bebop thread, concerning his consumption of water glasses filled with BV and Vodka. Black Velvet and Vodka by the water glass full sounds like a recipe that would assure adequate distance when you puked. Brings new meaning to projectile vomiting. Hey, it probably kept you from puking on your shoes, but heaven help anyone else that was standing in the target area. If ya needed more distance, you could have chugged a couple beers and jumped up and down to shake it all well. Sounds like my Navy days when we used to make a punch out of a quart of Schenley's Reserve rye whiskey and a gallon of sweet red wine mixed with a couple of quarts of 7-up. My tummy rolls over just remembering that stuff, haha. We would mix up that stuff, and then sit around the barracks and play cards until we either had to puke or fell out of our chairs unconscious.

In the late 80's I was in a duo/trio with the velvet voiced( a great singer/entertainer) George Srour. I did 2 summer and 3 winter seasons with him at Daiker's inn on 4th lake. George had 18 years there as the house band. We drank old grandad and/or Jim beam in beer glasses. I don't remember how I drove back to utica 3 nites a week. Black coffee has been my beverage of choice ever since that gig ended LOL.

I don't know if any of the members were country fans or not, but I just read in the OD obituaries that Ronnie Smith passed away. Back in the 70's when I was driving for Central NY Coach Lines, Ronnie Smith's band had a following that included a fan club that chartered two buses at a time to follow him to Nashville a couple times a year. I followed his band locally for a long time. He was a great musician and a really nice guy.
Rest in peace Ronnie. You will be missed, but your music will live forever.

How the hell did I miss Ronnie's OB? Thanks Clip for bringing it to my attention. I knew Ron quite well in the "old days" and I am so sad to hear of his passing. I will offer up my prayers to a guy who gave me plenty of laughs and great music for many, many years playing at the places I use to work. Ron was a super guy and will surely be remembered. RIP Ronnie. "I tip this one for you."

www.uticaod.com/latestnews/x1058168752/Popular-local-country-musician-dies-at-73Gee, the OD finally woke up on Sunday, and realized that losing a long time musical icon just might be news that the area would be interested in. Ron was an amazing and big hearted man, as well as a great musician. It does not surprise me that even at 73 and in poor health, he was in the process of planning a benefit jamboree. His jamborees always drew a large crowd and truly benefited the cause for which they were held. He will be sadly missed by those of us that knew him and love his music. He is probably picking and singing with the stars of years gone by and jamming in heaven as we speak. God bless ya Ronnie.
