I am not in the area anymore Shadowman, but I am going to hazard a guess that it might be the Utica Public Library. I was in there to use a computer the last time I was in town, and I think I remember ornate cieilings such as those shown.
Incidentally, thanks for posting the guessing game, and keep it coming. I REALLY enjoyed it on Joe Mezz's old forum.

Hi Shadowman! Clip may be right, but when I first saw it, I thought "the Utica railroad station!"
Hope you'll post some more of your terrific photography!

Possibly the Hotel Utica? ( it looks as though it may have been recently restored or cleaned.)

If the railroad station is luke warm, then by geographical association I'll take a wild guess that the ceiling is at the Post Office. If lukewarm in regard to some other measure, then ... uh ... the only association I can think of at the moment is "government building." But I can't think of a suitable possibility. (Haven't been in a public building in Utica in many years.) Of course, it occurs to me that if the shot is actually a tight closeup of a smaller area than I had assumed, a tin ceiling of this design could be found in any one of a thousand homes built 100 or more years ago. But you wouldn't trick us like that, would you, D?
Clipper, you've got a chance, I would think. The Hotel Utica is lukewarm by geography, sorta.

Union Station was luke warm out of the choices.
Post Office: Union Station is barley closer.
Government building. Which building? The one between John st and Franklin st? If so, that is barely farther away than Union Station
This is a hard one for the people that have not sat/stood there:)

Doyle Hardware Building is now the closest, but only by a hair when compared to Union Station.
Mayro is farthest.
Luke warm is by no means close. I will say warm within 3 city blocks for this one (hot for 1 city block). You guys and gals are still luke warm...
