Well, looking around on Bing BirdsEye, there doesn't appear to be that much old architecture left. How about (what I remember as) the Oneida National Bank building? A hundred feet north of the northeast Busy Corner (the edge of which is in our masthead photo.)

I believe that was the original UFA, which then moved to Kemble Street.

Those guys that bought the Mayda Tiffany buildings. That's it I'm done guessing. It's futile since I don't live there. The thing is it looks so familiar when I first saw the foto. (either I was there at one time in life or I am hallucinating) My other guess is Matt Brewing Co. my final answers. =^..^=

IF this helps anyone, I believe that it may be an optical illusion so to speak. It makes you think it may be a ceiling but look at the upper right corner of the photo. It is slightly blurred which tells me that it is taken at a fairly close range, unlike a ceiling shot . SO, I am now thinking that it may be a shot of a wall or inside an elevator or something along those lines. So I am guessing again.....
258 building?
BTW, when do we get the answer d?

LOL. I would be out looking for this place if I still lived there. I have been going through my memory banks, trying to think of buildings from that era when the ceilings of this type were popular. Heck, half the city fits into that category, haha.
I don't think you should put a limit on the guessing, but I think after a while you should start offering hints and clues. I really enjoy the game Shadow, and appreciate your bringing it to us.
I might offer a guess that it is in the Varick St area of West Utica, possibly somewhere within the brewery.
