The thing is it's such a common sort of design, although there are few tin ceilings (or walls) left. Or maybe it is pressed canvas...whatever. I'm with Chris, I haven't the foggiest at this point.
Actually, I never had the foggiest. I was just guessing.

I thought of Spagetti Joe's also. Was the Kitlas always in Frankfort. This is what comes up in search box but I don't remember going to Frankfort so maybe it might have been in Utica at one time?
I think our clues are misleading (least to me they are) You say its not downtown yet most of the places that seem to be near the area of the train station are warm. If the Broad and Second St. location is the closest then its got to be around that area. (I was trying to remember who had a tin ceiling..there are several places so this one is a tuffy for me.

Yes the Kitlas is in Frankfort just past the city line on Old 5S. I don't see where D says the location is in Utica. Almost every commercial building in the Mohawk Valley had this type of tin ceiling, along with many, many residences. Another guess would be the men's room in the Anchor Inn (Sitting or Standing)

Here's what D has said.
This location is NOT in the downtown area.
The railroad station would be closer than the public library, but both would be only lukewarm.
Luke warm means farther away. Luke warm is by no means close. Warm is within 3 city blocks for this one (hot for 1 city block).
Union Station is barley closer than the Post Office.
Government building. Which building? The one between John st and Franklin st? If so, that is barely farther away than Union Station
This is a hard one for the people that have not sat/stood there:)
Doyle Hardware Building is now the closest, but only by a hair when compared to Union Station.
Mayro is farthest.
The Firsching building then became the closest guess, but still not warm.
This location is NOT in the downtown area.
So, the location is over the bridge. Wasn't there an old hotel on the corner of Genesee and Wurz?

I vote for the men's room at the Anchor Inn, standing. The only time I ever sat down there, I couldn't get back up!

Firsching Bldg on Broad and 2nd is the closest so far. It is one street South of Union Station and a few blocks East as the crow flies.

Sons of Italy or any of the restaurants or coffee shops along Bleecker Street are possibilities.

Sons of Italy is too new of a building to have been using tin ceilings in it. The Florentine had come into mind but all the photos I have seen don't show a tin celing. But those are the bakery part, maybe the other side where they had tables to sit and have coffee might have.
(my brain is starting to hurt from too much thinking)
I just did a search in Google which brought me to some youtube vids posted of Utica.....after watching a couple someoone made of Bleecker St...I am feeling sick and depressed from seeing how bad my old neighborhood (East Utica) has turned into. It is very sad to watch and I am thinking how lucky I am to be not living there anymore.

Chris, I felt the same way watching the beating episode on Cornhill recently. These were neighborhoods of hardworking people, close and for the most part loving families who took care of their children and looked out for each other. If there is anyone left on Cornhill like that, they must be hiding in their cellars.
I'm still thinking it's possible V1.0 is over the bridge, although I don't know what old architecture is over there still standing. Westmo, it must be gone, but there was an old hotel on the NE corner of Wurz and Genesee years ago. (The Cadillac?) But I guess it's gone.

If you mean Joe's Restaurant, AKA Pellettieri Joe's then you win. I took two photos inside yesterday with my cell as a hint if I did not see it guessed yet. These were your hints.

Congrats Chris and Jon. Darn you Shadow! You made me hungry for a plate of hot peppers, crusty bread, and a bucket of icy cold soda.
In all the years that I have gone there, I am ashamed to admit that I never notices the ornate tin work on the ceiling.
I love Joe's. I don't care for their sauce or pasta, but I love to go there and order side orders of sausages and peppers, both hot and sweet, and then wrap a mix of hot and sweet peppers in the wonderful bread or make a sandwich with the sausage and peppers.
Thanks for bringing this enjoyable game back to us Shadowman. It excercises my brain, scanning my memory banks for these sites in my old hometown. It is great fun!
