No, I didn't. It seems the comment was deleted. I am curious why he won't discuss his rational for believing there will be no recall.
As to Fatata's commentary, it's a disgrace. My perception is that she implies that the city will not follow the law and hold a special election. And, if the city does, Roefaro won't comply with it. However, she can't cite to a single case or statute that declares Utica's recall process invalid or illegal.
The power of an Article 78 is pretty awesome. Literally, officials have "resigned" rather than face one of these. Rather than defend against an Article 78, the new hartford stormwater committee finally decided to follow state law and re-open its meetings up to the public.
Not having seen the actual text of the city charter, I can't comment on whether there exist any loopholes. Assuming Mr. Newall follows all the procedure on his end and the city council drops the ball, have an attorney standing by ready to file an Article 78 to force a vote.
Note, however, that if the city council holds a vote and it fails, then there is not much else Mr. Newall can do with recalling roefaro, except remind voters in November to oust the lot of them.
I suspect, roefaro has already struck a deal (hence his cocky attitude that "there will be no recall... there will be no recall").
But if Mr. Newall collects the number of signatures I'm predicting, the city council would be foolish to ignore its constituents.

Sounds like Roefaro thinks he struck a good dealio and doesn't have to worry about the teed-off people he was elected to serve. Unbelievable arrogance!

I understand what you are saying Joe, but I just think as a first term legislator, he is doing what he can. He is a freshman. He can't stand up for change of ALL the wrongs at once. Hell, they would run him out of town, and he would have NO allies on the board of legislators. What would he accomplish if he stands alone.
Patience Joe, patience, haha. Hell, this is a smart young man with a political science degree, but he is just getting his feet wet. I am encouraged. He has already had more balls to stand up for the taxpayer, than most of those that have served for many many years.
It is like when I was boxing in the Navy. I didn't fight unless I at least thought my adversary was equal and that I stood a chance of winning. I was a 140 pound kid, so I wasn't matched up with a heavy weight with sledge hammers for fists. I won 21 of 28 fights. It is the same with Larry. If he wants to win the championship, he has to pick his fights carefully and win the majority of them.

Howdy all! I'm back and I couldn't be more thrilled. WE ARE GOING TO THE REQUIRED SIGNATURES! The response is unreal. That Denied Justice might end up with 2830 by herself. Nobody's saying no and people are def searching us out.
I also hear that Roefaro's trying to control the media because they're "upsetting his daughter". Apparently he gave a reporter a 20 min lesson about he should be reporting.
I'm also thrilled to announce that Mr. Newell is nothing other than a bright, articulate and brave man. He has got this covered! He and his team have done their homework.

Amazing. I thought it would be a big hit. Judging from the flak put out by angie roefaro, I figured the petition was going to be big. Job well done to Mr. Newell.

We must be careful what we say. Roefaro's daughter gets upset by all this conflict and people talking badly about her daddy. Maybe daddy should just resign so his daughter would not have to read or hear about the political flak that dad has caused to come raining down on himself. That has to be a first. He actually is bitching to the media that the deal is causing his kids stress. NO KIDS, DADDY IS CAUSING THE STRESS BECAUSE DADDY IS TRYING TO SCREW THE CITIZENS OF THE CITY ONCE MORE, AND THEY HAVE HAD ENOUGH!

Ya know, I actually DO feel sorry for Roefaro's kids and the flak that they are probably taking. All I can say about it is that it is one of the liabilities of running for office, and the Mayor should have thought about it and anticipated it before he ran. I think that they will survive, and life will be back to normal for them when DADDY GETS HIS ASS THROWN OUT OF CITY HALL! LOL

Roefie (Roefaro and Rufie Elfante), must be pretty scared to have to cower behind his little girl. If she's a stressed out, why isn't SHE saying so? I don't feel sorry for them. If anything, they should be yelling at him the loudest for his erroneous behavior.
I love the jackasses this city shelters.
What idiot is dumb enough to make such a threat and what moderator is stupid enough to leave it up for 23 minutes?! My posts about factual situations are deleted all the time, but this stays up?! With supporters like this, i think I know how roefaro came to office...
