Here's the last piece of "news" that I read, linked below. While he certainly doesn't appear heroic, I'm not sure we can say he backpedaled from his position, except that he no longer is pushing for a recall, but instead is saying he wants to work with the mayor to settle differences. Depends on how you interpret it, I guess. Now that I think of it, what WAS his issue? Wasn't Newell's tipping point the appointment of LaBella? That isn't going to change. www.uticaod.com/homepage/x1641096936/Newell-ends-camaign-to-recall-RoefaroFirst he wants Roefaro out of office--doing terrible job with Parkway, hires BFF to be police chief--heads up a recall effort. Next he wants to work alongside the administration. That would be backpedaling in my book.

Your implication is she can be useful. That's true of a cannon ball. I would think anyone would be crazy to attempt to steer her to their purposes. Newell, maybe, because he's a political neophyte. But experienced politicians? Very surprising, Gear. Even a frothing mad dog can be useful if it's pointed in the right direction.

I was searching for how he had specifically changed on the issues, rather than how he had changed tactics (recall v.s. kum bay yah.) If I say anything more, I'll appear to support the man. We're all not far enough apart to argue about it.
