You're right, Ralph. This year's ballot is not going to be pretty.

Every now and then, a fresh perspective sheds light. This just in:
"We in Denmark cannot figure out why you in the United States are even bothering to hold an election.
On one side, you have a bitch who is a lawyer, married to a lawyer . . . and a lawyer who is married to a bitch who is a lawyer.
On the other side, you have a war hero married to a good looking woman with big breasts who owns a beer distributorship.
Is there a contest here?"

Ralph I agree with you on the fact that obama is no more black than he is white... I was very angry the other day when he said as a black american....... He is 1/2 african american and half white... So why doesn't he ever want to admit that??? Am I missing something?

I think a lot of people are missing something somewhere, and this is what they are missing.
If you can capture the "Black" vote by promoting your "Blackness" than I guess it is working for him.
One more chromosome from his mom's side and he would be just another White guy with big ears and a funny hairdo.
I find nothing wrong with anyone being President, I don't care what gender, color, or any of it. I just don't care for his lack of experience and some of the things floating in his background, but they all have shades of gray in their backgrounds!
But, this is the one thing that keeps gnawing at the back of my mind........why ?

I have nothing wrong with anyone being president as well, but honestly as of right now, I don't see me voting for any of them.. That is just my opinion. Hopefully one can change my mind by election time..

I agree with most everybody here and think it is very important for everybody to vote. Everyones vote does matter and nothing will be accomplished by not voting.
Please vote!

As a younger generation of politicians, I think Obama is absolutely inspirational. He is my generation's version of Bobby Kennedy. I can't understand all of the connections to Rev. Wright. Just imagine, for a moment, that you decide to seek public office. Now imagine all of the people you have associated with over your life. Should you have to answer for all of their indiscrections? No.
I have no problem with anyone disagreeing with his politics (i.e. too liberal, too inexperienced, etc.), but to somehow question his charachter and integrity is simply unfair and small minded. He worked many years in the community in Chicago. Lost a race for Congress and then came back to win a race for U.S. Senate. the lack of experience is actually a blessing to me. It tells me that he hasn't been in Washington long enough to build up a huge list of favors to be payed back. He was given no shot, and against all odds, has secured the nomination. If lucky enough to be elected in November, he will owe nobody other than the American people.
We all want a change, and when it hits us in the face...we complain. John McCain is an American hero and great man, but he IS more of the same of the last 8 years of G.W.
...Just my two cents.

Good point, Larry. I could never imagine having to explain my connection with all the folks on Clipper's Corner if I ever ran for president.
I am not eager for change. I am eager to a return to sane, limited government.

"If you go to the city of Washington, and you examine the pages of the Congressional Directory, you will find that almost all of those corporation lawyers and cowardly politicians, members of Congress, and mis-representatives of the masses -- you will find that almost all of them claim, in glowing terms, that they have risen from the ranks to places of eminence and distinction. I am very glad I cannot make that claim for myself. I would be ashamed to admit that I had risen from the ranks. When I rise it will be with the ranks, and not from the ranks." --- Eugene V. Debs
I think that quote sums up my feelings. I have more fun talking with you guys (and I actually get most of my ideas and "wisdom" from here) than any politician. Although I may not always post, I try to visit at least once a day to see what you all feel about the latest issues. I like to form my opinions based on what the real people of the area (and even in TN, lol) think. So, trust me folks, some may not "like" me, but I will always try to listen to the people first. That is what a representative form of government is supposed to be like.
