The Anchor Inn on Jason and Erie used to have lines of people waiting to get in for a Friday Fish Fry. Personally I didn't care for them but must be a lot of people did.
However they did have great Polish food Golabkis (cabbage rolls), Mushroom Stew, Kielbasa and Sauerkraut and Sandwiches plus Traditional American Food.
Janet Swierczek's Parents started the Restaurant and ran it for about 25 years then Janet and her husband Bushey bought and ran it with their sons Gary and Bobbie tending the bar.
I guess I must have spent half my life there.

You are correct about Doug's Busy Bee. He did not allow "hanging out." It was a small place, and he was kind of cranky when it came to teens hanging around. If ya weren't spending money, don't take up the tables, and there was no juke box that I remember. I did like the food.

When I hear mention of Massoud's, I always think it must have been White's Inn when I was a kid. Do you remember, Jon or Clip? Just south of the intersection in Washington Mills, toward Sauquoit.

You are right Dave. I am pretty sure that it WAS White's Inn in our day.

It was White's Inn before Massoud's back in the 50's. I just thought it was better known when it was Massoud's. I played many Weddings and Parties there when it was Massoud's.

It is on Oneida St just past the Utica Line, In New Hartford. Douglas James was the original owner. I'm pretty sure the owners have changed since then.

Thanks, now when I hear mention of Massouds, I'll have the right place in mind. Had a neighbor whose father was a chef/cook there in the early Fifties (at least). Talerico. Don't remember his first name, but some of his son's names were Mike, Tony, Leonard. They were roughly my age.

Fisherman's Wharf on Bleeker Street and 3rd Ave was owned by Robert Carmell. He went Bankrupt in 1985. Then it was owned by Vincent Vullo.

Clipper - I think this might be where we were talking about Richie Bowen. We had our Computer Club meeting Tuesday night and Robert Jones was there. I asked him if he knew Ritchie and he said he did. He also said he knew you but haven't seen you in a long time. Anyway he said Hello.

Hmmm. I have known a lot of Jones' over the years. Is Robert Jones the same Robert Jones that is a retired Utica Police officer and used to drive for Central NY Coach lines at the same time Dick Bowen and I did?
I find that I have to really stop and think to recall some things from years ago, yet other things are as fresh as if they were yesterday, LOL. Oh well, it is probably just age catching up, haha.

Coincidentally, I knew a Robert Jones who lived on Leah St., just down from the Villa toward Conklin, when we were kids. His father (who had an odd first name, but I can't remember it) still lived there in the early seventies, because I saw him in the Villa one night. There was a brother, Richard, I think. The mother was a nurse.
