I usually had my eye out for good lookin blondes too! Must be getting old, I let one slip my, haha. Gee, if I didn't see her, I am surprised that I didn't HEAR her, LOLOLOL! Did ya work there at TR's sunshine, or just eat there?

Anchor Inn. I loved the little long haired daschund that they had running about in there. Used to go there for fish fry and also for mushroom stew. Loved the fish and the coleslaw with macaroni in it. Bushy's wife made and awesome mushroom stew. I think it was the daughter in-law named Carolyn that waited on us most of the time. I guess Bushy must be gone by now. The last time I saw him was when I worked for the OD in about 2000, and he looked terrible. I think he had cancer didn't he? They were great people.

Wow, you both threw me a lot of questions and I hope I remember all you asked. Sh*t, where do I start. First, Bushey is still alive and living with his son Gary after his wife Jan passed away not too long ago. Carolyn who waited on you Clipper is Gary's wife. Concerning T.R., she was my best friend and passed away last year when I lived in Constable. Came in for her wake and furneral. I gave her eulogy. I did run her restaurant, T.R.'s Place, when she was sick and in the hospital toward the end and I was always there for as long as she had the place because I worked nights tending bar and she would stone me to come in every night after I closed. Even knew her when she and Lillian had their place together. They had a out and both opened up their own places. Before that she worked as a waitress at the breakfast place on Albany St and Bleecker. God, I racked my memory and can't think of the name of that place. I think it was Boogie's Place. I miss my wacko friend, "HI HONEY," very, very much. Last week I talked to Congetta and will see her in a few weeks. Congetta who was T.R.'s cook for the length of the restaurant until her retirement just before T.R. got sick. What a sweetheart and such a great cook she is. Sorry Clipper but Tiffany's giambotte can't hold a candle to Congetta's. Hers was the best in the area. Tony and Gloria (Patio) were best friends with T.R. also and always came to her place. We were a big circle of friends. The Dawkins lived in N.Utica right behind me. Along with Jimmy Winston (officer with the UPD) and his wife, were the first black families who bought homes in N.Utica. Mr. Dawkins name was Emile. He did open a bar up and I can't remember but I "think" it was called the Piccadilly. Geez, I hope I answered all questions to the best of my ability. You two are really testing my memory. ;D jon, thanks for posting T.R.'s Place for me. That is very special to me. And you Clipper, I guess I have to thank you for the half-fast compliments. That must of really hurt, especially having to explain you ain't what you use to be. ;D ;D

Oops, did forget all few things. Clipper I was married to Vinny Salerno at that time. He drove for Red Star and Raz trucking companies back then before he opened up his own used car lot until he passed away in 2002. You got the car right. It was then a Firebird, but then again I had so many different cars because Vinny was always buying me new ones him being a car dealer. It was funny because people would ask me what I was driving and I would answer, "have to wait till Vin gets home to let you know that." ;D He was a character and just loved cars. You're right on the Jet Diner to. When Stan's wife took over the quality went down hill as far as I was concerned. Stopped going there shortly after they got the place.

Yep, when I first met ya, Vinnie had the car lot. It was on the corner of Lenox and Court wasn't it? I thought Bushy was sick when I saw him last, because he had gotten so skinny, and I thought that John Walker told me he had cancer. I am glad to hear he is still around. He is a nice guy. Carolyn is a sweetheart. My ex, her parents, and her sister and her husband used to go about every other friday for fish. In between we went to the white birch up by Hinckley for their fish.
You are right about the Giambotte at TR's. was better than at Tiffany's. I remember the car when you lived on Erie Street. I lived on Parker St for awhile, and my garage was on Erie next to Helen Hoffman's house. You lived across the street and up a few houses at that time. I don't remember the year. I lived upstairs and some guy named Gary something that ran the Dinghy Bar lived downstairs.
I didn't realize that you were friends with Gloria and Tony. They are great people. I am glad he came back and reopened the restaurant after they leased it to that guy for a year of so. It just wasn't the same old patio without Tony.
Well, past my bedtime. I have to get my beauty sleep ya know. Catch ya tomorrow. Have a great night.

Salerno? I went to college with a guy named Joe Salerno. He was a nice guy...my husband and I went out had a drinks with him once in a while, then I lost track of him. I think he died a few years back...seem to remember seeing that in the notes on classmates part of the alumni magazine.

My friend John Walker lives on the first street that runs all the way througfh from whitesboro street to noyes, on the back side of the state hospital. He is a black man, about 62 or so, and is a former marine. He has had a lot of health problems with his heart in the last few years. He probably is a patient at the VA in Rome, but I don't think he would be working there. He is over 6 foot tall, and physically trim. Very personable, happy go lucky, and friendly. If you met him, you would be a friend forever. He was my friend since 8th grade at Seymour School, and was my assistant transportation manager when I worked at the OD. He took my place as manager when I quit.

My friend John Walker was the Physician to see at the VA except he recently moved to Utah. The street would be Churchill Ave. Two great guys with the same name.

Clipper, lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Beauty sleep? Yep, being a Westie all my life how could I not be friends with them? As kids we hung out at the Patio and we were the kids Ilk lovingly kicked out when we got too noisy. ;D Tony sponsored all my boys little league teams for quite awhile. He treated them after all their games. He knows my kids and I his. His son Anthony is my favorite but don't let on I said that. Anthony is a sweetie and he runs the restaurant while Tony and Gloria go to Florida every winter. Wonderful people. You were close. Vinny had his lot at the corner of Whitesboro St and Champlin Ave. He also had one at his house on Kossuth until the city made him close it down because it was a residential area. Then he moved it to Rome on Erie Blvd right across the street from Burger King. After that he opened up on Whitesboro St until he passed away. He just loved cars and all our sons share their father's passion. Kim, we do not many Joes in the family (none died early in life), but there are SO many Salernos and believe this, we're not related to most.

Mr. Dawkins name was Emile. He did open a bar up and I can't remember but I "think" it was called the Piccadilly. A fire of undetermined origin that broke out at about five this morning completely gutted Andre's Restaurant at 243 South St. and sent one firefighter to the hospital. Injured at the scene was Firefighter James Clair who was taken St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he was treated for burned hands and released. Chief Gerald Darby, who was still at the scene with firefighters shortly before noon today, said the restaurant is owned by Emon Dawkins, of 525 Keyes Road. Dawkins was not available for comment on whether the establishment was cover by insurance. Darby said the restaurant occupied the ground floor of the wood and brick structure. The building at one time was three stores but had been cut down to one. Darby said. A telephone alarm was called in at 5 a.m. and the fire was brought under control by 9 a.m. Four trucks were dispatched to the scene on the first alarm, with two more sent later on a special call. Mutual Aid dispatchers said.

THAT'S IT!!!!!!!! Hallelujah! Thanks Jon. It was racking my mind trying to think of the name. Now that I think about it he did name it after one of his sons. Where do you find all this stuff? Share it with me, then I won't hurt myself trying to remember. ;D You're the greatest!
