Ok so I just ate the price chopper fish fry and here are my thoughts
fish - great fries - good coleslaw - really wasn't my cup of tea kind of bland
If it is still on sale next week we will be eating it again!

Happy to hear you like them well enough to go back for more I had the popcorn shrimp dinner for the first time and that was really good. Worth having again. I like coleslaw but where ever I get it I still mix in a small can of crushed pineapple in all. Just love it that way and it does add more favor to all. Give it a try, you might like it. ;D

I can report that the fish fry at Eddie's Paramount Diner on West Dominick St. in Rome was delicious last night. The haddock was sweet and fresh, french fries were good and I thought the coleslaw was excellent! My brother complained that the french fries portion was a little small. But I took that as an opportunity to try the homemade chocolate cream pie. OMG!
At $7.95 I believe it was a good value. Of course, the ambiance at Eddies is unparalleled!

Oh, you can get fried bullhead instead of haddock if you prefer.

I love the fried bullhead dinner at Eddie's Paramount. Another place that always had a great bullhead dinner was Van't Tavern in Barneveld, but I don't know what the status is of Van's, as I haven't been there in about 8 years. You used to get two large bullheads, fries, and there was a small salad bar included.

As far as I know, Van's is still operating. It is owned by my sister-in-laws relatives. My Mom sometimes goes to Hotel Moore and likes their fish frys. I bought Price Chopper yesterday. Not the dinner, just the fish. The only complaint I have is that they fry it frozen so it can be watery.

Countrygal, I can honestly say that I've never had watery fish from PC here in New Hartford. Can't speak for any other PC because I always get mine at N.Hartford's store, but I'm assuming when they advertise fresh fish then it shouldn't be frozen. For Christmas Eve I ordered 14 pieces of fish from PC and all were delicious, very tender and sweet. Guess it would depend on who they have cooking it in different stores. In that case, I will continue to order just from the N.Hartford store.

Hans, in the winter we usually take out and eat at home. Just hate the cold weather and I'd rather be comfy at home. Alot of these restaurants are lowering their heat and I freeze in many of them. When we do decide to venture out for a fish fry it is always at the Deerfield Firehouse. Just have to check if they're having one that week, not always available. Their fish dinners are great and you won't go wrong, but you just might have to wait a little longer to be served. Well worth the wait.

Lucy, forgot all about Chantry's. They are good also. Try the crushed pineapple in the cole slaw. I just love it that way but ya got to like pineapple to. ;D Saw that PC has buy two fish fries this week and get one more free. Not a bad deal at all.

Frankie, you're very welcome. ;D Make sure you get the coupon out of the paper for the freebie. Normally, they just accept your advantage card but I would still use the coupon just in case. Gonna use ours on Thursday this week. My girlfriend, Yvonne, who you've met is moving for good to S. Carolina next Monday and we're getting them to share with her before she leaves. It is her favorite fish fry so that'll be her last meal with us before she heads south. We've been friends for over 30 yrs now. We've been through a lot together side by side. Just another sadness to accept because I love her and do want the best for her and I know she wants to be near her daughter and grand kids but it is a hugh bummer for both of us. I am going to miss that girl.
