The best fish fry I've had in a long time is at the Castlewood on Burrstone. I usually get the fish sandwich and leave the bun because the fish with the regular fish fry is humongous! Can't eat it all. But damn, it's good!

Mary, I never tried Castlewood's fish fry but have been there for breakfast and lunch. We usually stop there for breakfast after my grandson's hockey games and have enjoyed all I've tried. Will take your word and will try their fish dinner. I really like that place a lot. ;D

Where is the Castlewood? Can't recall that name or picture where it might be located on Burrstone.

It's right across the street from where the "old" Ramada Inn was located on Burrstone Rd.

Is it the place that has the glass sunroom roof on part of it, that was originally some sort of fast food burger joint many years ago? Was it a Hardy's Hamburgers at one time?

Oh wow. No wonder the name sounded familiar. They used to be next to the hardware store in Waterville. I ate breakfast there many times. The food was great then, so I imagine it has gotten nothing but better since then. They were nice people that ran that place.

Ok folks, lent will soon be here, and lots of places will be offering fish fries, so how about a good listing of places then we can do a poll. ie; price, taste etc. I'll start off with one Utica Maennerchor, Flanagan Rd. Marcy Fish fry every Friday night, comes with salad bar, cost around $8.00 other seafood specials too.

I gotta tell ya about my THREE favorite fish fry restaurants in the area. They are The Knight Spot in Frankfort, the Knight Spot in Frankfort, and the Knight Spot in Frankfort. LOL. Did I mention that the Knight Spot in Frankfort also has a great fish fry?

The last 3 or 4 fridays I have been getting my fish at Price Chopper in New Hartford. It's pretty good. I usually get some frozen fries and some bulk slaw. I may go over to the seafood place on Main St. in Whitesboro at some point too. Their fish is pretty good and they have sweet potato fries.

Countrygal, we've been getting our fish and fish fries from PC lately and they are damn good. Ya can't beat the price either. I usually get their fish fry but tried their fried clam dinner yesterday for the first time and it was delicious. Only paid $3.99 with my advantage card. How can ya beat that.
