I agree with you westmo guy knuckleheads fish fry is good, and you get a lot. I've also had a fish fry at a local fire dept and it wasn't too bad. We ate at the Buffalo head on Friday my dish was horrible it was a lemon wine chicken, my husband's fish fry was really good.

If you want quality, AND quantity, you have to try the Knight's Spot on Main St in Frankfort. the fish hangs off the plate, the sides are delicious, and the price is very reasonable. Their haddock is always fresh, and not frozen until after the friday dinners. If there is any left, they freeze it for sandwiches later in the week. It is thick, moist and delicious.

They get their fish fresh on Thursday every week. I doubt that they have much left over to freeze. By thick, moist and delicious, I mean as opposed to some places where the fish is thinner, and cooks up dry. The fish filet you get there has to weigh over 3/4 of a pound. It is huge. Sorry about the mood thing, haha!

Clipper I don't think that you understand what I meant. I watch The Soup (on E!) from time to time and when people describe food it sounds like dirty talk. I was just being dirty.

OH you naughty naughty girl, LOL. I thought you were making fun of my absolute obsession with the Knight Spot's fish fry. Kathy picks on me about it. Heck, we can be eating prime rib in Cherokee NC, or barbecue in Memphis, and if I say something like "this is really really good." She will come back and say, "yeah, but it isn't as moist and delicious as a Knight Spot fish fry." LOL. We laugh, because if she asks where I would like to go for supper, she will pause, and then say "besides Knight Spot," and we both will laugh like a couple of kids.
They also have one of those machines that swirls a flavoring into soft icecream, and I always would get a rasberry swirl cone when we left.

The Ten Pin was on West and Eagle
Uptown Grill is where I usually went in Utica. Loved their Shrimp Cocktail (Very, Very, Very Hot) and Manhattan Clam Chowder. They bought their fish from Utica Fish and was usually real fresh and good.
Rosie and Pat Powers seemed to keep a little order in the place.
I normally went later in the evening and the wait wasn't too bad until you were next and had to wait for people that were either trying to exercise their importance. Or had fallen asleep with their eyes open.
Their move to New Hartford was a Big Mistake when Price Chopper Bought out the Grand Union Shopping Center and they thought there wouldn't be any place for the patrons to park. It was their demise.

The Uptown was also my favorite place. Used to go their for lunch in '62 and always through the seventies when we'd come back for a visit if it was on Friday night.

Well I got to pitch for my buds over at Deerfield Fire Department. Great Fish, fast service, considering the crowds they feed, plenty of soda and beer. Watch for them to run about four or five weeks this fall.
My past Best Friend and Best Man, Rich Hickel's wife, Elaine and the kids run a great fish fry at the Club Monarch.
Oh by the way, Maynard is in the process of rebuilding the firehouse and if anyone you know comes to our ham diners, they will be still on, but take-out only.

Wilum, have you tried Elaine's bake fish in salsa sauce? It's my favorite fish dinner there. Just makes my mouth water thinking about it.

Since I can't venture out yet, we're ordering a fish fry for Price Chopper tonight. Have to admit, we get them there quite often and they're pretty damn good and the price is great (especially if you have a coupon.) ;D

I recommended Price Chopper's fried fish in the 2nd post in this thread back on March 1st, 2008. I'm glad to see you finally listened to me just once, bobbbiez. <g,d,rlh>

She was probably talking instead of listening Frank. She does that sometimes ya know, LOL. Is Stan's Seafood still open on Dominick Street? We used to send someone there from my office every Friday to pick up fish. Now THAT was some excellent haddock, and fried fresh, never frozen. It was so fresh, flakey and moist that I enjoyed it without any tartar sauce or anything on it. Just a roll and butter, and a good sized portion of that great fish.
