I'd rather a nuclear (the C is silent) power plant than windmills.

Or, we could put our most hardened criminals in a giant hamster wheel that is hooked up to a massive generator and rotate the prisoners in 2-hr shifts. At least then they would become productive members of society and do good for people.

I'd rather a nuclear (the C is silent) power plant than windmills. If you think windmills are a NIMBY issue, just imagine if one of those were ever proposed....

I like the big Hamster wheel Idea, I think it has legs.

somewhere somebody would claim the hamster wheel idea would be inhumane to our prisoners.

Only if they didn't shower regularly! Its not like were applying High voltage to their Groinatalia to get them moving, that could be inhuman (Swimmy, illegal?) and a waste of NRG. Employ Big Bubba as the motivator for the fresh meat to move faster, put them in a little Speedo Swimsuit and play dueling Banjos 24/7. Move it boys, he's not all that fast but if he catches up with you, oh boy, I think you might move a little faster next time!

somewhere somebody would claim the hamster wheel idea would be inhumane to our prisoners. Hence why they would work 2-hour shifts. Give them some breaks. lol

I agree, breaks for everyone but Bubba, keep him moving the entire 12 hr shift, that will keep him mean!

Power lines are always going to be needed to move the power from source to consumer, but if they build their own damn windmills downstate, we would not have to have AS MANY massive power line towers scarring the landscape from the St Lawrence or Oswego to NY City specifically to deliver power to downstate doors.

It is funny how Downstate has nothing to do with us Upstate until they need something, like our capability to generate electricity for them. NYS is actually two separate states, Upstate and Downstate. All aspects of each are completely different. Even the political dynamics are different, Upstate has been traditionally Red where Downstate is blue. The only reason why NY is a blue state in national elections is due to the heavily populated downstate. Because of that, it is fair to say Upstate rarely gets appropriate representation. Perhaps it is time for there to be two different states.

I think New York as a whole would be better off with a North New York and a South New York.

I think it was on Strikeslips blog a long time ago when I mentioned we should dump NY City and let them become their own state, separate from upstate. I was told that NY City and downstate are "the economic engine" that runs the state. I wonder if it is time to downsize and get an economic engine that doesn't cost so much to run? Do they make a 4 cylinder, or hybrid economic engine?

Splitting the state will never happen, they need us as their slaves. Just like The Pharaoh and Moses, Albany will stop that before it gets any steam. Unless we can get God to Part the Thruway!
