FA, yes that's true. But at the local facility here just the men are split into different pods. It is akin to having each block in a separate building. Yes, we're off topic. That post before this was the pot calling the kettle black!

Is the Herkimer jail going to be wind powered or did I get caught napping in class again?

If you count all the huffing and puffing from our legislators, then yeah I guess it will be wind powered. God almighty they've managed to keep the issue going this long by just talking about it.....

So why all the jail building? It reminds me of the dump ... THE DUMP ... controversies going back 10 or 20 years. You could pull off the Thruway at any exit and see a sign, "No Dump Here!" That was the state telling localities to build dumps so the state could have a plan for agreeable to the state. Down here the rumor was the state's plan was to take care of New York City's garbage. As far as I know, a lot of county dumps were built to state specs.
I have no doubt energy generation will be next. Cuomo will begin pitching nukes and windmills and water wheels and whatever pretty soon. And probably all of this comes down from the Feds. It would make sense that federal agencies are trying to implement nation-wide plans through state and local agencies so as to not look too big-brother-ish.

There is no need for a federal department of energy or education. Give those abilities back to the states, like the Constitution mandates!

But that's what the Feds want, Swimmy ... total control. What Constitution? I thought we buried that long ago, unfortunately.

It's time to dig it up and start following it. And in addition to the above-two named agencies, get rid of the department of agriculture, the FTC, and most of all the FCC. If a tv broadcast or radio station is offensive to you, then CHANGE THE CHANNEL!

If a tv broadcast or radio station is offensive to you, then CHANGE THE CHANNEL! that would be the obvious solution. However, someone somewhere above our paygrades believes all Americans need nannies to "protect" them and tell them how they should live. If the FCC really wanted to keep offensive material off the airwaves, most of the "reality" crap like Jersey Shore wouldn't even be allowed to air. With all these government agencies, is it any wonder why we're going broke? BTW, right wingers have been crying about a Socialist agenda with regards to Obama. Has anybody ever actually looked at the government lately and ALL it has its hands into? Even before Obama was elected, to a certain degree, we more or less have been heading toward that way all along.

Yes, precisely, after the Industrial Revolution the price for success was Guilt! The Middle Class barely existed in the 30's, it was truly a time of the haves and have not's. I do believe much of the gains were due to Unionization, it was a war of sorts. When workers banded together, Big Daddy Sawbucks had to listen.
Most of those gains were replaced by greed, over-extension and Political Posturing in the 60's and 70's. With few wrongs left to right, the politicrats moved to social Programming and regulation as their form of vote capturing.

A government that is of itself and not of the people wants control of the population in order to stay in power. It matters little what ideological camp they live in. Liberal and Conservative are just two banners seen waving above the crowd of bureaucrats bearing down on us. Each may have a different excuse for interposing their rules and regulations among us, but the results will be the same.
They are the rich, who can afford to run for office and who gain some degree of control over the agencies who rule our lives. Americans refuse to accept they are ruled by agencies who are partly controlled by the rich people who get elected to offices of importance. What a lesson in the efficacy of teaching children they live in a democracy.

I agree Dave. They would love us to fight a polar battle, the furthest distance between two points. The truth is humans aren't really polar by nature. Our minds are capable of so much more than single point concurrence or dissent. That type of Political NRG is hard to harness in any quantity so its the Rep's Vs. Dem's, a war that can never be won.

Well, one more time. Do you want windmills, power plants or no power? Exactly. We unfortunately have to take the bad with the good. I'd rather see the windmills than the power lines.
