Police prepare for possible funeral protestThis just disgusts me. He's a fallen soldier who made the ultimate sacrifice for the bastards who plan to protest to be able to protest. The irony, while normally amusing to me, sickens me to no end. EDIT: Perhaps we should take the protesters and send them to Iraq or Iran where there is no freedom of religion!

A group coming from Kansas to Waterville to protest? Come on, don't these people have jobs or a life. Rediculous. While I don't agree with this war, never have, I would not EVER stoop to the level of literally spitting on the memory of a fallen soldier like that. Whether or not he believed this war was right or wrong, he did his duty as a member of the US military and lost his life doing so. He deserves the utmost respect for that.

It's a cult religion. The people protesting are weak minded sheep. And totally un-Christian! It's scary to think people like these protesters think this is what the Lord wants. I'm not church going person, but I do believe there is a God, and it is certainly NOT the same God these people believe in. My God is a caring, kind God who wouldn't want anyone protesting at a funeral.

Those SOBs have appeared outside Fort Drum's gates in the past. They've never been effective because they always announce that they're coming and they're always met by military wives and group of bikers who work to counteract their nonsense.

Kim..
Kim.. Kim....
un-Christian...
Myself being not a chiristian person would have to disagree.. Being Christian usualy goes hand and hand with being a weak minded sheep.... I mean who else needs to be told what to read, what to listen to what to watch and how to think?? yes..a sheep. If your god was so kind and caring.. there wouldnt be a funeral.
Protesting the war in the name of god is no different than fighting the war in the name of god.. its foolish for any one person to claim to be doing gods work as an excuse for such extreme behavior.
I believe there is a "love your enemy, turn the other cheek thing" right in the bible... but I am not sure.... I could be wrong.
My God is sarcastic and he/she can be a little twisted at times as well... My god might be the same god as yours.. might not be.. I saw god when I was about five years old or I am pretty sure it was god, I felt his presence a few times.. once i felt his hand pull me over a speeding car so i hit the windshield instead of the bumper (hence the twisted part, he could have raised me up another foot or so...)
Bottom line Kim.. its not nice to refrence good or bad behavior with being Christian, Yes, there are people like myself that are still waiting for the messiah that are good people and take offense to being lumped in with "non christian" do-badders...
as far as the people who plan to protest.... they are proably hippys, i hate hippys.

I grew up Roman Catholic, yet stepped away from religion at least 15 years ago. Does that make me a bad person, not believing in any God? Religion or faith is not a precursor or prerequisite for a good person. For instance, I am not religious yet I have never molested anyone. How about Catholic priests, holier than thou, who have? This is not a slam against Catholicism or priests, its merely to point out there are good and bad people out there regardless of what they believe or don't believe in. And for anyone's information, if you are wondering what turned me away from religion in general, some of exactly what Los refers to is why. I am not a mindless sheep. I can discern between right and wrong without needing holy text or divine intervention to guide my way. Not to mention the hypocriticism I see in many of the beliefs in many different faiths.

What? I think you've misunderstood me. And them! They're not protesting the war, they're protesting the military. These morons think that they should protest military funerals because, as they say, 'God hates gays', and because the military won't throw them out (don't ask, don't tell), God hates the military and that's why he's killing soldiers. That's what THEY think!
As for me, I said I believe in God, but I didn't necessary say I was a Christian. Here are my beliefs: I believe there is a god and this god created life and chose to do it through evolution. I don't believe one has to be baptized (my son is not) and I don't believe going to church is mandatory. I have never read the bible. I don't go to church. I don't believe in hell as a place but more as a remoteness from God,and I don't believe anyone is stuck in that place forever. I am against the war, I am pro-choice, and a am pro gay marriage. I'm kinda a hippy...you must hate me. ;-)
ANYWAY, I said these people are un-Christian because they claim that the ARE Christians and Christians are supposed to 'love thy neighbor'. These people obviously don't, therefore, they are un-Christian. Many 'Christians' fall into that category. Many don't. I have an aunt who is a great person, and she is a Catholic nun. I never claimed un-Christian people were 'dobadders' because then I'd have to say that just about every single one of my friends and most of my family is bad.

PS: I also believe that everything I believe might be wrong. I don't think there is one true religion. They might ALL be right in some way.

If I take a bath I'm a hippy? Wait a minute...are you trying to tell me I don't take baths?
I drive a yellow bug - does that make me a hippy?
I eat meat, wear a leather jacket and listen to classic rock - guess I'm only a tiny bit hippy now that I think about it. ;-) And my other vehicle is a Tundra and we pull a pop-up with it in the summer. Hmmmm. Really un-hippyish.
