What pisses me off is I don't even live in Utica, yet alone Oneida Co. but because we have a 13502 zip code we get stuck paying for tax towards a city & county we don't even live in whenever we order something on-line.

Average income per household $29,000? HUH? There must be a lot of single old people in this zip code.

Swimmy, what am I looking for? Sorry, wrong thread. It's a study done by the state comptroller's office regarding sharing of services and consolidation from 2009. I thought I clicked the right thread, but clearly did not.

Does anyone know when on Sat's that they're meeting @ City Hall for these meetings? Maybe grab a bagel, hot chocolate, a sign and sit in Hanna Park for a couple of hours?

Watertown has a large Army base nearby, Fort Drum. Otherwise, NY Air Brake, Black Clawson and Black River Paper all went down the tubes like Utica's industries. Oh, I forgot the prison. Not to mention the isolation. I'm a city girl and when I lived up in that area for a while I had a hard time with the driving too many miles to get to anything. I'm use to getting to any store and etc within 5-10 minutes from my house and didn't like all the traveling I had to do there. That is the main reason I moved back to this area. Not to mention the winters were much harsher there and bitter cold. I learned a great lesson. The grass isn't always greener on the other side. All places has it's pros and cons. I guess it all depends on what you like and what you're use to. Very true, without Fort Drum, Watertown would be desolate. I believe Fort Drum to be the main source for professional positions. We have two small prisons in the general Watertown area. I have to say though that I hardly think Watertown is an outback. I moved up here in 2002, and since then there has been alot of gain as far as retail & restaurants. Our Arsenal Street is much like Commercial Drive with the mall and the addition of shopping plaza (built & managed by Cor) with Kohls, Bed, Bath & Beyond, Petco, Panera, Target and a few more. Harbor Freight is in the works next to Wal-mart (which was recently expanded to a Super Center). My favorite addition as far as restaurants go is Texas Roadhouse! Several new hotels have been built. Out on Route 11 near Fort Drum's main gate, a Super Walmart, a few new plazas with shops and food and a new hotel. Personally, I think Watertown's downtown (known as Public Square) is rather crappy as far as retail goes but the square looks really nice after major construction. Real estate went crazy here a few years ago. I think housing prices are outrageously high for what you get. Property taxes are pretty high too. My husband & I own two properties in Watertown, our home and a commercial building and pay approximately $8,000 in property taxes between the two. Our home is very modest in size (1,000 sq ft) but on the south side of the city, which is the preferred area, thus higher taxes.

I guess Roefaro blew a gasket the other nite & walked out of the council meeting after Cerminaro ripped Hizzonner a new asshole over this new budget. Roefaro called Cerminaro an incompetent & a liar. Cerminaro countered by claiming that the Hizzonner is never around when he goes up to his office. Nice. This is a joke & worth the price of admission, ya can't make this stuff up. Pass the popcorn! ;D
