Hard to make a judgement without knowing the complete circumstances. I see what looks like a routine traffic stop with a woman starting a confrontation before he has had a chance to even verify who she is.
If he had let her go & it turned out to be a kidnapping by a woman with a history of domestic violence & a restraining order preventing her from unsupervised contact with her children, he would have been fired not just suspended.
How is he to know?

She should get to Taze him right in his sack in front of his co-workers @ the sheriff's Xmas party and see if she can get his nose to glow. A little "demonstration" if you will.

Seriously, I thought tasers were only for protection and to control "unruly" suspects that were out of control. It takes kind of a wimpy dude to tase a woman for simply running her mouth. That would have been a good time to call for back up, not shoot the woman with a taser.
I can see it all now. The sheriff asking the woman, "how do you like your barbecued gonads? With a dry rub or basted with sauce?" Oweeee! Can't imagine the pain. They did that once on the Jackass program on cable. If you look up "pain" in the dictionary, a picture of someone having their crotch tased has to be there with the definition. LOL

Many moons ago when I was a bad girl, I got the silver bracelets (& I don't mean the furry kind) slapped on me. My wrists are thin, so I slipped them off & handed them back to the trooper saying, "Here; you probably want these back". Good thing they didn't have tasers back then.

Youuu? A bad girl??? I knew you were most likely "naughty" when you were young, but I never thought "bad". I thought you were naughty and probably good at being naughty. You crack me up. I can envision you handing the cuffs back to the cop, LOL.

You're a beauty kiddo. Gee, giving more thought to the whole taser thing. I had to stop and weigh the alternatives. I MIGHT be enticed to get tasered for $75K. What the hell, it only hurts for a little while, hahaha.

I just watched the video so can only go by what I see viewing it...and no sound. That is most scarry and looks to me like another cop using his "Powers". And acting as he did makes me feel he might have some super problems with woman. It looks like a serious case of abuse to me. He should not be on the force or on the streets. I'll bet good money he may be more dangerous than the criminals. I can only imagine how traumatize those poor kids are from seeing what went down.

It's just me and my problem with authority issues but I generally have to question the motive of men/women who feel the need to govern or police others. I truly do get the need and the value of such but I'm always curious as to the motives of the individual. What exactly are they looking to get from it. I don't mean financially bit in terms of ego and psyche.

by her own admission she was being non compliant she had no right to see any tape shouldhave kept her mouth shut hand s on th wheel and stayed in the car leaving the car can be considered an aggressive move , how ever i dont agreee with the tasering i would have placed her under arrest after calling for a supervisor..after knocking her senseless with a night stick( tongue in cheek), once she was told she was being arrested should have not tried to get back in the car syracuse should not have settled this one...oh she shouyld have listened to her kid who told her to stay in the car seems the kid had better sense... rod if you'd like a jolt still have my stun gun beats getting beat with the billy!!!!!!!!!!!!

George Orwell I was one of those rough men for over 32 years i am a peaceable man not a violent man, but i am very good at it! I did it because its something inside me like engineers are born to be engineers and singers are born to be singers or priests and other clerics are called to their vocations...Its an internal thing that needs to be filled and cannot be defined...bottom line is we do what we are good at !

Corner, I agree with you that Syracuse shouldn't have settled on this. The message has to get out to the public. I don't care if you're a mother, a nun, priest, teacher or whatever. If you do not comply with an officer's request then there will be consequences you'll have to pay. Can't understand why people don't understand this. If you have an argument with an officer do not put it on the streets. Take it to the officer's supervisor. It's that simple.
