"Wouldn't it make it easier for the cops to catch the ones that choose to drink and drive at 4am after most everyone else has gone home? "~~Will HUH? That makes no sense. I disagree. As I've stated a few times now, people who are out at 4 a.m. are going to be out, regardless whether a bar is open until 4. Many are at other people's houses, or other secluded areas. Will, and correct me if I'm wrong, is suggesting that by keeping the bars open until 4, those drinkers will be choraled at the bars instead of someone's house, etc., thereby making it easier for the police to monitor and arrest should they attempt to drive home drunk. That's exactly what I'm saying Swimmy... And yes I would be for bars being open 24/7. This is America right?!?! What doesn't make any sense is someone who wants pot to be legal and want's the bars closed at 2am. Really? So if pot's legal and can smoke it 24 hours a day and can drive than what's the difference really. Also, convenience stores are open 24/7 selling age restricted items like smokes... Bar's sell a different product. Really no difference IMHO..

Hello Stoney!!! I've been busy trying to get ready for Christmas. I'm almost done shopping. How are you??? You are right about the area needing more things to do. That I do agree with, I do however think that the Stanley is trying. There are shows that I would love to go to, but just can't it's hard to come up with a babysitter and money for tickets for a show. I don't know how people can do it. Well anyway as far as Key West goes I can't wait to go there again!!! I love that you can drink in the street. I don't know why but I Just do. It's a whole other scene of just relaxing. What a great time. They have fun bars you know, like clothing optional bars!!! I refused to sit on anything at that place!!!! All I could think of was some old guy with a dirty butt sitting in the chair. ugh... sends shivers up my spine! lol..... I want to go there now!!! Darn you Clipper!!!!

They have fun bars you know, like clothing optional bars!!! I've never visited a "clothing optional" bar. I think if I did, it would only be fair to ask for a vote before I took off my clothes. So, in my case, I'm not worried about being caught naked. Still, the concept is intriguing, and I wonder that it is limited only to bars. Why not an "optional" church or library? Coming across someone in the altogether among the stacks would be a shock. And a revenue hungry government should entertain the idea of a clothing-optional Motor Vehicle Department. "May I see your inspection sticker, sir?" "Sure, it's right here ..."

I think that I would be forced to carry a small case of some sort with a ready supply of clorox wipes for all the butt and scrotum contaminated chairs.

Having a similar law in Utica would certainly stimulate the economy by providing Leon Koziol with another income stream.

Will, if you want to drink 24 hours a day, go right ahead.
People should not drive after smoking pot just like they shouldn't drive after drinking, so that's a moot point.
You obviously did not read all my posts, or you would see where I'm disagreeing with some particular points Larry is making, I'm NOT making judgments based on any morality.

Hey, if the bars stayed open until 4, the swing shift folks would have a better chance of having a few drinks and enjoying their relaxation after work, but that is hardly reason to change the law. And just think, if we had bars open 24/7 we could be held up in DWI roadblocks on our way TO work instead of on the way back home at night. We could also increase the number of drunks driving about while kids are waiting for the school bus or walking to school. Heck, the school bus driver would be able to stop and have a beer on his way to work. UC goes good with an egg McMuffin they say. I wonder what a holland farms donut tastes like dunked in Heineken? Hey, I don't drink, and don't really care who drinks what or where. Heck if the church wants to serve 12 ounce glasses of wine for $3 a glass to wash down the communion host, have at it. If they want to tap a half keg at a PTA meeting, it's no skin off my butt. JUST DON'T DRIVE AFTERWARDS!

LOL A little hit on some doobie first thing in the morning probably starts your day off well also, haha. I am not a pot smoker either. I tried it a couple of times, and it made me feel more "weird" than "good". I had a couple of friends from the CB days at Tripps, named Kawliga and Teepee gal. I tried a couple of hits one night at their house when I stopped for a coffee, and it was really funny. I left there, from the corner of Kemble and Park Ave, and it took me like 25 minutes to drive home to James and Brinkerhoff. I was like in a time warp, and must have been driving like 2mph. Talk about paranoid. Nope, not for me, and never again, hahaha. They busted my chops about that for years after. I was on the CB with them, and they would ask me where I was. About 15 minutes after I left their house, I was only at Arthur St and West, or something crazy like that, hahaha.

I rarely do it now. It used to be cheap, but it's about 20 times the price it was back in the 70s. And NO, you should never drive afterwards. It feels like you're going 85 mph. when you're really still in 1st gear. lol!

Gee, ya better come down here to live. They are always finding massive crops in the national and state forests. It is fairly cheap here from what I hear. Then ya could buy a great big old grocery sack full and we would simply change your screen name from StoneY to StoneR, haha. Yep, just throw it in the fireplace and stick your head down the chimney. LOL

It won't be long until they legalize MJ. CA has garnered enough votes to get the vote included on the 2010 ballot. It's amazing how a financial crisis can turn around all the propaganda we've been fed for years. The data and info FOR it's legalization and medical benefits becomes more and more compelling everyday. I grew up in a home with alcoholism and prescription drug abuse. I've never seen a stoner hit anything but a bag of chips and maybe some Ho-Hos.
Stoney, your candor is very refreshing and Clip, I'm laughing WITH you, not at you. Makes me think of the Cheech & Chong clip where they were parked in the median and Cheech was wondering if he was going fast enough and Tommy Chong told him he was fine.

Heck, we know a couple here that are in their late 50's that smoke a little pot now and again. They like to buy a little weed, and a good bottle of wine, and just relax and enjoy the buzz and each other in the privacy of their own home on a weekend. Sounds relaxing to me if that is your thing. No harm no foul.

I don't really see the need for a bar to stay open that late. ( well I'm not a drinker so maybe that is why I feel so. I only drink socially. wine with dinner etc.) Even Vegas(the all time adult playground) does not really do much after 2. Once the last show closes most people head home. I was really surprised because my first time there I understood it to be open 24/7.....sure you can get a drink at any time but who really does normally after the usual 2P hour we are most used to.
