I can try, but I'm not trying to assert that it is, just ask whether it is. If it is, I won't tell if you won't. lol

Re: Rednecks (does it count if my family migrated from Boston through North Carolina and South Carolina before ending up in Minnesota?) We have enjoyed the redneck jokes for years. It's time to take a reflective look at the core beliefs of a culture that values home, family, country and God. If I had to stand before a dozen terrorists who threaten my life, I'd choose a half dozen or so rednecks to back me up. Tire irons, squirrel guns and grit -- that's what rednecks are made of. I hope I am one of those.
You might be a redneck if: It never occurred to you to be offended by the phrase, 'One nation, under God.' You might be a redneck if: You've never protested about seeing the 10 Commandments posted in public places. You might be a redneck if: You still say ' Christmas' instead of 'Winter Festival.' You might be a redneck if: You bow your head when someone prays. You might be a redneck if: You stand and place your hand over your heart when they play the National Anthem. You might be a redneck if: You treat our armed forces veterans with great respect, and always have. You might be a redneck if: You've never burned an American flag, nor intend to. You might be a redneck if: You know what you believe and you aren't afraid to say so, no matter who is listening. You might be a redneck if: You respect your elders and raised your kids to do the same. You might be a redneck if: You'd give your last dollar to a friend.

Anyone else have difficulty trying to access the Save Oneida County thread? When I click on it, I get an error message saying that I'm trying to view a page that no longer exists. But the link to the thread is still there.

Swimmy, yes, I get that message while trying to access: "New Ad from Citizens to Save Oneida County"
Perhaps it's because you and Rod were so insulting to each other the thread collapsed in sorrow.
(Ahem.)

Fair enough, but after about page 4 I thought things got civil, finally. I thought maybe it was deleted because the sources I posted contradicted what many opponents had to say about the issue.

Swimmy, don't know. Maybe the "I didn't do it ghost," that always haunted my house got into the forum somehow. ;D

I just figured that if the thread was going to be deleted for hostility, it would have been done long before last night. I find it odd that whole thread, not the hostile posts, is deleted AFTER I posted those links that disprove how much the Oneidas owe in back taxes and that the Oneidas are not at fault for our tax crisis. I guess I'll just re-post the links here so that anyone curious has the opportunity to do read them too:

Swimmy, Are there any douments which are less self serving.
Document 1 and Document 4 (the EIS) compare the tax revenue generated by the OIN employees and suppliers to the expenses of the OIN alone. This is such an apples to orchards comparison that when it was first published it made me suspect that the EIS had been cooked to reached a desired conclusion.
Document 2 references a Federal District Court ruling but appears to ignore the Supreme Court ruling in referenced in Doc 3.
I'll be quiet now. (Although after watching Star Trek I'm tempted to say, "Darn it, Jim, I'm just a physicist not a surgeon.")
Time to watch videos on the computer.

The federal district court decision was after the Supreme Court decision. But the Supreme Court decision only determined that the property could be taxed, not how to tax them. So there is no conflict between the two cases.
I disagree that the EIS was cooked to reach a desired conclusion. It took three years of investigation, research, and fact finding, amid several public comment periods. But, that is why the decision is being challenged in court. Time will tell whether I'm correct in my assessment or you are, unfortunately, all we can do now is wait.
As for Document 1, I am not sure there is anything that is not self-serving. Anything from the County or State will be self-serving to the County or State just as anything from the Oneidas is self-serving. But I find that the Oneidas have been more open. In any case, I posted it as an alternative. Hopefully between that and what the county and state officials have said, one can glean the real situation and judge for themselves.
I'm going to be watching Serenity. Enjoy your videos :-) I hope I answered your questions.

I just returned this afternoon from being away for a couple of days. Ralph had left a PM for me, asking if I had deleted the thread. I was not able to access a computer on Tuesday or Wednesday, and didn't get home until 1PM today.
All I can say is that IF I were home, I would have most likely tried to calm the storm a little, or would have locked the thread until the tone changed. As Dave said in one of his posts, THAT is not the tone that is normal on the forum, and we try to be civil whenever possible.
I can only ask WHO originated the thread, and did THEY possibly delete it all? If not, I cannot figure out why it would disappear. ONly Ralph and Kim and myself have the capability to delete any posts or threads, other than the one who originates the thread. THEY can always delete anything that THEY have posted, and ONLY what they have posted.
