I read the bulletin that was sent to police agencies and then read Napolitano's statement.
It seems like every week an administration official is telling us that we didn't see what we just saw.
She didn't call veterans and libertarians terrorists. And Obama didn't bow.
BTW, did I mention I'm a Vietnam veteran? A member of the NRA? And I hear these voices ...

Yup, Frank, and you forgot to mention you like guns. Guns!! for god's sake!!
Let's, see .. guns, veteran, NRA, talks back to politicians, gets up at meetings and rallies .... surely you are a terrorist!
But I'm a little confused. Tell me again what's the difference between your kind of terrorist and a patriot?
No, no, let me guess. You're a patriot until you disagree with the current regime? Have I got it?

LOL, Dave. Thanks!
If only more people shared our healthy distrust for government.

Ok, I tried to upload it on photobucket.com, but have not had any success. I also tried to upload it on google, through google docs. No such luck.
I'll keep trying.

Are you trying to upload a pdf file in acrobat....I don't think you can do that as it is a program but you can copy the text and just copy and paste over to where you want.

No, I'm trying to upload a pdf onto a website that hosts files. The file has some graphics and I'd rather not give the impression that the report was doctored because I copied and pasted. If you know of a free webhosting site, then let me know!

Swimmy, how big is it? If it's not too large, we can put it on my site for a few weeks.

I use freewebs.com which is pretty good. (so far after we lost all our webpages on AOL and graphics) It's basically a WYSIWYG. I didn't use the templates but copied my aol pages to freewebs.
I use photobucket for my graphics which is another free site, so is flickr, webshots, picasa.

A good friend of mine sent me this note today. Because of his position in state government, he must remain anonymous.
"Veterans need to be heard on this. AP reports VFW supports this bogus attack on all American vets and especially our heroes of Iraq and Afghanistan. If so I may cancel my life membership in VFW. When we Vietnam vets came home it was the left wing media and academia that slandered us. Now it is the White House and the so-called Dept. of Homeland Security. It is not even good police intelligence (I had a 35 year career in law enforcement) based solely on leftist prejudice against the military and one case; Oklahoma City. The National Commander touched on this last night in Saratoga and will be heard again. I had some training sponsored by Napolitano’s outfit a couple of months ago at the NYS Homeland Security facility in Oriskany. We were told there were no leftist terrorists, ALF and ELF don’t count. One of the presenters told us that he had been on an FBI watch list because he had “demonstrated against the Vietnam War” now the taxpayers were paying him to spread left wing propaganda among law enforcement officers. Shows you how out of touch these people in Washington are; at least 30% of the police officers graduating from the academies are War on Terror vets, what are they supposed to do; watch themselves for signs of right wing extremism. Speaking for myself and not the Legion, in my opinion we should let all let of our elected officials know that Janet from another planet Napo has got to go and a full withdrawal of this so-called report must be demanded along with a real apology from the White House."

ALF and ELF don't count? They're avowed terrorists, for heaven's sake.

I enjoyed this clip from an article by Joe Murray in Philadelphia's Bulletin:According to the unclassified document (the DHS Report,) Gov. Rick Perry, R-Texas, could very well fall under the umbrella of the report’s definition of being a right-wing extremist in light of his statement today praising state’s rights. In announcing his support for a resolution that would reaffirm the guarantees of the 10th Amendment, the Texas governor called for a less intrusive federal government and appeared to be, as the report described, “rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority.” “I believe that our federal government has become oppressive in its size, its intrusion into the lives of our citizens and its interference with the affairs of our state,” Mr. Perry said in supporting a resolution that would reaffirm the 10th Amendment’s guarantee of state’s rights. “That is why I am here today to express my unwavering support for efforts all across our country to reaffirm the states’ rights affirmed by the 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. I believe that returning to the letter and spirit of the U.S. Constitution and its essential 10th Amendment will free our state from undue regulations, and ultimately strengthen our Union.” That makes the governor a prime candidate for a terrorist.

But Dave, warning law enforcement to keep an eye out for Muslims would be profiling!

Here's more, copied to me this morning.
Should your Department Commander or others be questioned by the media about the Homeland Security Report which warns that returning veterans could be recruited by rightwing extremists groups to commit acts of violence against the USA, the following message points are offered for your consideration. A copy of the national commander’s letter to the secretary was sent out on Monday, and a copy of it is included as well. (By the way, National Legislative Director Steve Robertson will be on CNN today at 10 am EDT, discussing this subject.)
Message Points
· According to VA stats, since The American Revolution there have been 42 million U.S. military wartime veterans. Timothy McVeigh was just one of them. Yet he is cited in the DHS report as a “Disgruntled Military Veteran.”
· The American Legion comprises veterans and the staff assists veterans every day. We have never run across veterans who sympathize with McVeigh’s act.
· The report is less than 9 pages. It contains the words “may,” “could” or “perceived” 14 times. It does not contain any statistics, just words like “some.”
· The American Legion opposes extremism in any form. It’s 1923 National Resolution 407 states “WHEREAS, The American Legion is pledged to the orderly enforcement of our laws through lawful agencies…..
· It further resolves “that we consider any individual, group of individuals, or organizations, which creates, or foster racial, religious or class strife among our people, or which takes into their own hands the enforcement of law, determination of guilt, or infliction of punishment to be un-American, a menace to our liberties, and destructive to our fundamental law…”
· It is slanderous to suggest that “disgruntled military veterans” pose a serious terrorism risk to the United States. This is the type of stereotype that Vietnam veterans unfairly faced a few decades ago.
· This report makes no mention of Islamic radicals, who have been responsible for many terrorist attacks over the years. One could certainly categorize radical Islam as “right wing.” Are we to believe “disgruntled military veterans” and those concerned with illegal immigration represent bigger threats?
· If not for veterans, there would be no Department of Homeland Security or nation to protect. This is a pure “values” issue that reveals how someone in our government views those men and women who demonstrate daily their willingness to give all they have in defense of our nation and our heritage. If America was a land of titles and classes, these men and women would be our “nobility.”
Unfortunately, they ARE our nobility.
