jon, was it Jim's son who was one of the boys who was in the Utica Police Cadets and went on to become a Oneida C. Sheriff? I'm pretty sure I remember he had a daughter that would come in from time to time, but don't remember a son. Could be. Might have been older or younger.

The kid I'm thinking of would be around 50 or a little older today.

I remember those bags well but from the peddler who use to be at the Addison Miller swimming pool every day in the summer but it only cost me 10 cents a bag. Oh No, not those little things. The bags that he made for me were Chicago Market size shopping bags, with a stick of melted butter.

Our 1st house when we got married was just down the street from Eagle & Kossuth.
I vaugely remember there being something on that corner way back when we'd visit my grandparents. One set lived on Jefferson and the other on Nichols Street. Anyone ever get passports or wedding pictures taken by Baleno Studio?
I Remember the Seven Dwarfs and Belvedere but I think there was something on the other corner too

jon, why do you think we only paid 10 cents for them but they were loaded with tons of butter and soooooo good. ;D I laughed my dupa off seeing you mention Chicago Markets. Just as my kids laugh at me because most of the time I mean to say, Price Chopper, and it always comes out as Chicago Market. It's probably because my Dad was their grocery deliveryman for years till he retired and then Paulie Mazloom took over. My older sister and I both worked for them on Columbia St as cashiers part-time right after school. It only cost the customer $1.00 to have their groceries delivered right to their doors. The customer could even call in their grocery order and have it delivered for the same price. Great stores and I along with many others were so upset when they closed their doors for good.

I laughed my dupa off seeing you mention Chicago Markets. Just needed to differentiate between the tiny 10 cent bag, Price Chopper (Hyper Market) plastic bag and Chicago Market paper bag.

Chicago Market? Ok, I'm changing locations here...remember the Chicago Market where PAR is now? We used to shop there, and I remember the name the cart contest. I submitted an entry, but it didn't win. So sad. Hehehe. Also, where Carmellas is, I think...if it wasn't right there it was near there, that was a grocery store, too, and they had a big animatronic of some sort in the corner...you walked in the door, turned left, and in the corner near the ceiling on the left hand side, there it was, singing and moving around. Does anyone else remember that?

Where Carmella's is now used to be a Foodland. Just up the street, almost next to KFC is a sort of shopping center where Barone's Accounting, Fynmore Picture Framing and a place to buy upscale ladies clothing are. That used to be the Victory Market. Who remembers the original Gene's Chili Hut?

I do. If was where the KFC is now. It was a great place for burgers and cokes and for teens to hang out. I used to go there with my uncle Jim when he lived in Clinton. We used to hang around with some girls from "the manor" which is the subdivision between KFC and the Clinton Rd.
If Foodland was where Carmella's is, then that is where Cary's Supermarket was when he expanded from his little store in his house in Whitesboro. I stated incorrectly the other day that it was where the strip mall is. I mixed it up with the Victory.

Who remembers the original Gene's Chili Hut? I picked up the grill when DanDee threw it out and cleaned it. Yuck.. I think Gene Durante bought them out then.

The Chili Hut? That must have been before MY time! I could go for some chili now, though. You know, I did love Dan Dee Donuts! I miss Dan Dee Donuts.

I remember the Chili Hut. I think we used to go there and sit outside and eat? Very late 1950's.
