I think Voss' just plain sucks. The shit is just a big greasy heartburn. They do have great ice cream. I think people stand in line because it is a seasonal tradition. If it was open year round it would have closed it's doors long ago.
That corner is so busy I always fear somebody will come plowing through the crowd with their car. Yes, I do go there because my wife and son love it.

I am cracking up thinking about the fact that us gourmet food critics have gotten 3 pages of posts about a DAMNED HOTDOG STAND!!!!!
Hmmm. Maybe we can get a couple of pages out of the gourmet quality of french fries from McDonalds!! Believe me, it's all in the grease temperature, and the finesse of the chef standing at the fryer with the paper "golden arches" hat! Skilled french fry fryers are hard to find!!
Then there there is the high quality fish filets, made from only the finest, chopped up scraps and trimmings from the Gorton's Fisherman! hahahaha!

Is it me or did Voss change its barbecue sauce mixture. It didn't have the kick I'm used to from there.

The Patio Drive-In used to have great chili dogs & fries back when that old guy was there. Word was that his chili recipe was a secret. Does he still work there? He'd have to be around 90 or so.

The Patio Drive-in is down Oriskany St toward the city from Yorkville. It is across from the Dollar General Store, near the Oriskany St. Fast Trac.
The old guy, "Ike" passed away, as did his lady friend "Gussie" who was a waitress there for years. Ike's son Tony and his son run it now, and the chili sauce recipe is still a secret and still just as good as ever. They also make a "killer Milkshake" Stop in and try one. It is worth the trip!

Tony and I went through school from 3rd grade at Conkling all the way to graduation day at Proctor. Haven't been down there for some time; gonna have to stop by and see if I can catch him.

I had lunch at the Patio a few times. It was pretty good. Also, I have to disagree with you, todd. I find Voss's to be really good too, just always so damned packed with people.

Swimmy, I agree the Patio has fine food. It's one of the better diners in the area. Their hamburgers are almost as good as what you can make at home.
