www.wktv.com/news/local/15801387.htmlAnyone feel these cameras will help reduce all the dope peddling, and other criminal acts that take place in this area will now begin to get reduced because of all these cameras? OR - will they just move to another section of our City?

To hell with movin' my bidness, I'll just take my gat and blast that mutha$^(^% out da sky.......siiiit, who day tink day playin wit.
Actually, they probably will move around the corner or elsewhere. "A" for effort, and I'll withhold my grade for performance until I see results. Too many ways to get around the cameras I think. We'll see, hope it works for the residents.

At least it is a step in the right direction. Heck, in London, England, don't they have cameras all over the streets which helps to hold down crime.
BTW - if "they" do "blast that mutha$^(^% out do sky" - isn't that destruction of government property and they can get arrested and do jail time? Afterall, before they shoot, they have to look directly at the camera and guess what - there is their picture!

Depends on the angle they were shooting from. They could also be wearing Reagan masks.

they cant hit each other center mass i doubt they could hit the cameras with a load of buck shot..a testament to their markmanship skills was witnessed this summer by the amount of young knuckle heads riding around in their newwheels from the scooter store..(from all those low shots as a result of holding the gun sideways).

First off: one more step toward a police state.
Secondly: England still has crime- its like saying that getting rid of guns in England eliminated gun crime. Nothing beats a cop on horse back carrying a grenade launcher.

>>Nothing beats a cop on horse back carrying a grenade launcher.<<<
Except a criminal standing up through the roof of a Hummer firing a Panzerfaust shoulder rocket.

IF James Street is truly a high crime area according to statistics complied by the Police and arrests made, then IMO a "police state" is warranted. The way I look at it, it is better to have a camera shot at than it is a Police Officer doing his job.
These cameras will be monitored by police at the Police Station rather than having extra men assigned to James Street and not requiring any additional manpower.

Wcup102, I tend to agree with you fully. Don't believe in knocking anything down until it has a chance to prove itself. We loose nothing by attempting what others have instituted and seem to work for them. Hey, I know as a fact that cameras work in our stores here to apprehend criminals so why not give them a shot on our streets? I give it an "A' for effort to. Better then in the past when nothing was being done.

Did I hear right that the DA's office will be monitoring too? Maybe they can set up a monitor at the courthouse and let the Grand Jury watch too. It'd be the most efficient operation in the criminal justice system.

wcup has the right idea, however I have a feeling that Aurthur St. will become the "new James" after they are installed. I think Frank has a great idea though. Maybe we can have a monitor installed in the Mayors office as well so he can see how the rest of the people really live in Utica.
