I used to be a registered Democrat, that is until Hillary was allowed to Carpetbag into New York State. That did it for me. I don't like her, and I defy anyone to tell me one positive thing she has done for New York State since being elected Senator.
Having said that, I'm not really liking any of the Republican candidates either. I'm not that crazy about McCain but think Romney is just okay.
I've never been a partyline voter anyway. The only reason I jumped parties is because I can't stand Hillary.
If Hillary is our Democratic candidate for President, I will vote for whoever wins the Republican nomination and not really care who it is. I'd vote for a hamster before I voted for her. If it winds up that Obama wins it, I will probably vote for him.

Denise, your sentiment about Hillary is something I've known intuitively but was never able to justify logically until reading the link provided by Concerned. The columnists begin with the recent announcement by Ralph Nader that he's forming an exploratory committee for a run in this year's election. They conclude with: "Here, then, is the Clinton disaster scenario. Even in a year when Democrats are in great position to win in November, if Hillary unifies the Republicans, loses independents, and loses the progressive left, her chances of winning the general election are slim indeed." Thus, if the Republicans had a candidate who I thought believed in the Bill of Rights, I would throw all of my support to Hillary right now. Unfortunately, I don't see that candidate in the current field. My mother always told me to look for the silver lining, so I can name one positive thing that Hillary has done for NY State. Since she was first elected, I have sent her approximately 30 to 40 emails. Not once has she ever written me a reply -- sometimes I don't even get the automated response. Think of all the money Hillary has saved us in not wasting time writing to me. See?

Unfortunately, I don't see that candidate in the current field. Would you please clarify that? Isn't a good thing if the Republicans believe in the Bill of Rights? I think I left my brain in Saturday. Hopefully it will catch up by tomorrow. I just wanna watch football.

I admit it is a bit contorted.
Hillary's nomination would assure a Republican victory in November, at least according to the column quoted above. Thus, by supporting Hillary, I could help assure that outcome (at least in my own over-inflated imagination) IF I thought a Republican would shrink government and protect our freedoms.
Unfortunately, it matters not to me which of the current field of leading Republican or Democrats wins -- the outcome after 4 years will be the same. So I'll do what I always do. I'll vote for the person whom I believe is best.
Vote Freedom. Vote Ron Paul.

Swimmy, the thought of a Rice/Dole (or Dole/Rice) ticket, with a combined IQ well in excess of 300, gets my heart thumpin!

I would support either one of them in a heart beat. BOTH are highly intelligent ladies with cool heads on them.

During the Clinton/Dole election I really was hoping (I was too young to vote) that Elizabeth Dole would run. Perhaps Rice will make a run in 2012. She is certainly more than qualified to be the President.

I think that assigning 230 IQ points to Condy is excessive, but that's beside the point. The first part of Pearce's article makes sense. Hillary is very divisive ... I know many woman who feel as Denise does. But Obama? I don't think he is as unifying many say. He reminds me of Bill Clinton in many ways....not in good ways. As for Hillary, although I'm glad I'm not dating her, she would probably do a credible job as president, but there are many more I would vote for before choosing her. I might vote for McCain. I don't like Romney's haircut. Dave

dgriffin, your subtle humor did not go unnoticed. Good one. Have a Karma. But I think you underestimate Elizabeth "Don't call me Liz" Dole's intelligence just a tad. You're right, swimmy. I mean they really get me goin'.
