Swimmy, you may be taking this "electing of a president" too seriously. Move to France? Come, come. You wouldn't be happy there. Canada, maybe.

It was a poor attempt at sarcastic irony. But then I realized that France would probably welcome hrd with open arms. Canadia would have been the better choice.

You going to explain how Obama reminds you of billy, but not in a good way?

Sorry, yes. The two are very good speakers with visions honed to be popular. They each have a likable and polished presence.

I just thought ... I haven't seen an economic outlook in a while for major corporations, but most I read in the past couldn't in their prognostications have cared less who would be elected president. That told me something.

And to extend your notion, dgriffin, Nixon proved that we can even survive a complete term without a President.

I'm still trying to find on the Internet something about a British political scientist I read of a few years ago who had quite convincing arguments that NO politicians ever accomplish anything. That if you carefully analyze each big problem any society has ever tackled (probably, but not necessarily, excepting war) you would find that other institutions solved the problems first and the politicians arrived later to pass laws and make it look like their solutions. Health care comes to mind, even you don't like the solutions. Another intriguing theory is that society runs itself, the proof being that it is so complicated, no one could run it, so there must be some odd "chaos" algorithm operating that we don't understand. Food for thought. Dave

No, no, no. Society is run by the Illuminati and the Masons. The lesser secret societies control the individual countries, e.g. the Skull and Bones have the U.S. all shored up.
If you find the link, be sure to post it. You've piqued my curiosity.
