Did some surfing around and discovered this apparently new Utica area blog with the interesting title of "Utica Uprising". The blog posts only go back to May 7th so it does look very new. No details on who’s behind it. Here is the home page: www.uticauprising.com/Its purpose:" Utica Uprising is a blog/community where we hope to inform and engage Uticans to rise up and take action. We continue to recycle old politicians and ideas, never seeming to move forward. It’s been said that Utica is 100 years behind the times. Well, with some insider commentary and new ideas, hopefully we can get the residents to engage in the process. The one thing you have – that no political machine can take from you – is your vote. Use it wisely and see how you can change our city" OK, I can agree that... Some interesting blog posts include: May 12: Decision 2011: The lack of clarity in the Utica Races May 9: Green Party organizing in Utica (My comment, that's not going very far) May 8: A post blasting Democratic Candidate for Mayor Rob Palmieri as a "Bush Cheney" team. (My comment: Bush has been gone from office how long now?) May 7: A picture blasting Democratic City Council President candidate Morehouse a a "Republican" . (My comment , I've seen this picture before on another blog, but where? Hmm..) May 6: An interesting take on Republican candidates Julian, Cardillo and Dolye as recyles. ( My comment, there is some truth to that). It also outlines a possible Democratic strategy against them by bringing up: "The people will not forget the scandals, GroWest, Lawsuits, crime, nepotism, cronyism, etc. that plagued the Julian years". (Comment: a little hypocritical if you ask me, they just described Roefaro's term as mayor to a T. Also take of republican Recycle candidates is strange given the recent Arcur Roefaro fundraiser fiasco) Anyway, this one should be interesting to follow! Check it out and would be interested in your observations and comments

It is definitely a worthwhile endeavor by whoever is posting it. I was drawn to the "Decision 2011, tic toc" posting. The links all lean toward the liberal and progressive but in the interest of reading different takes on different issues, there is a lot of great information available by clicking about from the new blog page. I try to read a wide variety of opinions on issues of importance, although I lean toward the center or the right more so than the left and liberal. Aside from my obvious lack of enthusiasm for the present administration, I DO try to stay informed and try to stay middle of the road for the most part. I am not in favor of either the extreme left OR right's views.
Thanks for posting the link Joe. I am sure we have a huge number of Democrats and liberals as well as others that will be loyal readers. I would love to know who is authoring the blog. Would not surprise me if it were someone that we know from one or another of local forums or other blogs that many of us read or have read over the years. Kudos to whomever it is. It is a well put together and constructed website for sure. Looking forward to reading it regularly. I have seen some of it on other sites also Joe. I saw the Morehouse is a republican thing somewhere else also. It may have even been linked right here, I don't remember. I know it made face book at one point.
I have said it before, but I will say it again. The divisiveness that is presently so obvious between the major parties is alarming. It seems that they grow farther apart every day and it seems unlikely that any common ground can be found when both parties plant their feet and stonewall each other. It is tearing our country in half and dividing families and friends over strong political beliefs and BOTH parties ARE guilty of that.

How can anyone support Palmieri unless he publicly states he's not bringing back the Sullivans??

Boy, THAT is a question to be answered for sure Beth. I agree. What a dramatic and gigantic step backward that would be.

I've bookmarked it to see how it develops but why is it all done anonymously? (This from a guy who posts here under a pseudonym.)

I did the same thing Clarence. I bookmark things that draw my interest, and then I wonder why my damn computer takes so long to boot and open firefox in the morning. LOL.

I think that site is run by Larry - visually, it's certainly his aesthetic.

Look at Strikeslip's blog. It's terrific and yet he's anonymous. Not to say I always agree with him (or her) but his opinions are well thought out and presented concisely.

I'm sure Larry will set us straight. I think the writing is pretty darn good - so I'll be interested to see how it unfolds.
Strikeslip definitely presents his ideas concisely - seems like a very intelligent dude.

Strikeslip is my blogging hero.lol I have never seen another blog as well researched, documented, and appropriately written. He definitely has a handle on proper writing etiquette, excellent writing skills, and a manner of putting things in a perspective that makes sense to the average reader. He has a way of being both emphatic and yet properly polite in his opinions.
I agree with Dave. I think Larry may possibly be the one that linked the Morehouse is a republican thing, although I am not sure now if I saw it here or at Face Book, and probably reads the blog daily, but I don't see Larry's writing style in the new blog and I have followed Larry from one web page venture to another over the last three years or so. Anything is possible I guess
I was impressed with the library of links listed. It is an all day reading project for even a dedicated liberal democrat to keep up with all of THOSE blogs daily, haha.

It is tearing our country in half and dividing families and friends over strong political beliefs and BOTH parties ARE guilty of that. Thanks for the comments and insights Clipper. One thing I like is that the author acknowledges that there is a problem in Utica and encourages voter participation to address it. I also agree with his (or her) comments about the futility of retread politicians. However, the weakest post is the oldest one. While it is correct in that Julian as mayor was no prize the blogger conveniently ignores the fact the Roefaro was guilty of the same nepotism and shenanigans that he accuses the Julian administration. For a good blog, its not enough to be right, or to articulate a position, a good blog has to be consistent and fair to everyone. It should be interesting to check in.

Actually, I designed the blog for a old friend that I worked with when I was on the legislature. They wanted to do a blog but didn't know how to put one together. I own the domain name and hosting through Acumen Media and just set it up for him. I haven't written anything for it yet (if I even decide to). But I tried helping out by setting up a facebook page to get him more readers. That's where I took the Morehouse photo from. Even know it was my idea in the first place. Anyone that's on the Utica Democratic Committee would have received my original design in the form of a direct mailer today. I'm not even sure who designed the one on the blog because I know the guy that I set-up the blog for doesn't know how to do that stuff. But the message was the exact same as the mailer Zecca did today. They do want to stay anonymous though because he is also doing some freelance writing for a couple area papers, and wants to be able to express his personal opinion without any troubles. The idea was to try turning it into a progressive blog/political action committee. It's something I was going to do when I purchased the domain about a year ago. But running for office and trying to get my business up and running, I just don't have the time for it.
I'll be interested to see if he keeps it going. I guess that's the long answer to the question of whether it's me or not. LOL. I did start it up but am not currently writing anything for it. I promise this, if I do write, I will pt my name to any posts (which is probably why I haven't written anything yet, lol).

LOL, thanks for the update Larry. I thought the format and construction looked a lot like a couple of your other sites in the past, but the writing style was not yours. Good luck to the author of the blog. I hope he does keep it up.

Strikeslip is very informative and what he writes you can believe to be the truth. I have total respect for him. He brings out the truth and before he speaks investigates all avenues. Guess that runs in his family. Just wish he would seek a political office. There would be no doubt he would get my vote and I would work my a** off for him. We need people like him in government to get us back on our feet and get rid of the useless bodies doing nothing for us.
