Dancing with the Stars.
Someone wake me up when all these "reality" show fads finally fade away. Even WWE wrestling is starting one up.

Dancing with the Stars. Someone wake me up when all these "reality" show fads finally fade away. Even WWE wrestling is starting one up. They won't be going away soon. They're much cheaper to make (than a quality anthology drama like "E.R.") and the networks have learned something most of us only suspected. People will watch anything. The concept used to be called LOP, Least Objectionable Programming. Viewers tune in to what they dislike the least. Just because DWS has rating of 4.5 (percent of TV households) and a share of 12 (percent of TV's in use), which is a good number these days, doesn't mean that all the viewers sat around salivating for DWS to come on. But who cares, Nielsen certifies it and the network can charge higher prices to advertisers. Even though there is a growing trend in Neilsen homes of TV's turned on that no one is watching.

The down side of reality shows for the major nets is that they have no shelf life at all. Once they air they have no value. Fox even started a reality cable channel which failed. Problem is the target group they are looking for: women 25 - 44 do not watch reruns - with the exceptions of I love Lucy & Golden Girls. So, hopefully this reality phase will eventually go the way of the hula hoop & yo yo's

HEY, my five yr old and twelve yr old grandsons have yo yo's and love them just as we did when younger. Their favorites are the ones that glow in the dark. They do the same with them that we did...walk the dog, rock the cradle and etc. Now like yo yo's, hula hoops never went out of style. At Delta State Park last summer we watched a group of kids playing with them and held their own contest on who could keep up the most for the longest. I even got into that one. Didn't win but my body hurt like hell the next day trying to win. Hula hoops are used in many gyms as exercise equipment. Just take one out at your next gathering and see how much fun it will bring back that right now you're just keeping as a memory. We have a few at our camp that are definitely utilized. Both, yo yos and hula hoops are still sold in most stores so don't bury something that is still there for all to enjoy. ;D

Chris, I've been missing the show cause I've had meetings on Mondays. How do you like it so far? Is it worth watching with this years chosen dancers? Let me know your opinion cause starting next week I should be free now on Monday nights.

I am only familiar with some of the dancers and never heard of the others. So far I am enjoying it. Don't always watch it week to week faithfully....only when nothing else is on. (but have been trying to catch each week of Apprentice...really good show this season)

Terrible decision tomorrow with the Apprentice. New show starts tomorrow at the same time and I want to watch it. It's called "The Killing" and the producers are the same who did my favorite show, "Cold Case." It's the first show of the season and starts at 9pm for two hours. Plan on watching that. Boy, how I hate when that happens.....two shows I like on at the same time. Sucks!

What ...no VCR or Tivo...your solution.....and don't forget that Stoney says they rerun on cable (CNBC) later in the week. You can still have yoru cake and eat it too. (or see if they have reruns on internet.)

Will watch the re-run. What night is it on? Geez, I hope I'm able to stay awake to watch The Killing. The grandsons just left after a long weekend with us and I'm pooped. RJ said now I have my computer back from Nikolas and he has his TV back from little Marco, but we're both too tired to enjoy either. Tiring but great weekend. Little Marco just called after only being back home for an hour to ask if we missed him already. Yeah just gotta love him. All worth it. ;D

BZ...now you done and did it ;D mentioning The Killing. So I decided to watch it (even though it looked like they ran it consecitavely all night). Fell asleep duing the first hour then switched to Apprentice to see Richard Hatch get Fired...then swtiched back only to loose interest and went to bed. Missed the blow out with Gary and Meatloaf.........looks like I'll be looking for reruns and taping them.
So what was The Killing about. Never heard of this before. Was it a book or just a made for tv movie ? I'm sure it will be rerun again...maybe this week even.

But I can get it to go around a few times.
