Somewhere, someplace on this board people started talking about fish fries, but can I find it? Of course not. Is it under "Food & Fun"?? Of course not. So anyway, Price Chopper's fish fries were brought up. I'm not just touting them because Jim has worked there since Hector was a pup (how do you like that old saying??) but because they are very good & fresh. Who the hell would want to fry fish when it's that cheap to have it done for you? This week, a haddock dinner is $5.00. The piece of fish is at least 8 oz., & includes fries & cole slaw. Until April 23rd, they are offering a "Triple Catch Platter" for two: 2 fried haddock portions, 4 fried sea scallops, 4 fried shrimp, fresh cole slaw & french fries, $9.99.
Actually, anytime of the year they will fry or broil any seafood you want to buy at no additional charge. ~~Stoney, waiting for a check from the Golub's.

I have got to try the Price Chopper fish fry. I have heard great things about it both on this board and elsewhere!

It's me the former "Fiskie", and us Liberals ( with a proud capital L!) have to stick together. Oh yeah, this is about Fish Fries! I think I'm much better off discussing food, rather than politics on this thread! I liked my "MoreStories username better, and it truly fits me as one of my "Serenity Spots" is my own home, and I love being a "homebody" and an introvert! Now, what was it we were talking about on this thread? Oh yeah, Fish Fries!

Urban Hermit, I love the new avatar and the new screen name. Thanks Clipper! I have to give all the credit to Dave, as he did it for me! ( I tried but no luck!) I find a real sense of "family" on this forum, no matter how misguided I may think your political beliefs are! For the most part, it doesn't get personal here, and that is something that I didn't care for on Facebook and other forums. I try and avoid the subject when I can these days, as no one will change my school of thought, and I have no illusions that I will change anyone else and their core beliefs. I'm gonna stick with Utica and Fish Fries! It helps me find those "Serenity Spots" much easier!

Damn, where the hell am I? Right, fish fries. Stoney, I've been promoting Price Chopper's fish fries right along now cause they are delicious and very reasonable. Very comparable to any others and the amount is generous also. We get them all the time. Plus, their fried clam dinners are just as good. Actually my favorite. I think this week they are the same price as their fish fries.

Sorry, Fiskie!! I wasn't able to find it. I think it's totally natural & quite cool when we go off topic, as real life interpersonal communication does exactly the same thing. P.S. Did you notice the topic changes by about the 6th post of a thread? A phenomenon, if there ever was one..

You've got it, UH!! You spoke about it not getting personal around here, & you're right, it doesn't. But there have been several in the past who high-tailed it out of here when the "pressure" got to be too much. Some of these people want to be elected to power in the city of Utica. Hell, if they can't handle this place, they can't handle politics. ;D

Is Price Choppers' fish better than the haddock at the old Jean's Beans, in south Utica?

Is Price Choppers' fish better than the haddock at the old Jean's Beans, in south Utica? Dick, I remember Jean Beans in Utica on Hampden Place and also in Watertown on Eastern Blvd., near Ohio Street, I think. They must have used twice as much grease as any other outfit frying fish! But it tasted good. And their beans, too. Favorite restaurants in Utica for a fish fry were the Uptown Grill on Arnold Ave., the LBJ (lunch box, junior) in Whitesboro on the truck route and a very long time ago, the Villa on Taylor and Leah. More recently, I thought Dave's on Herkimer Road was pretty good. The Franklin's fry in Rome is pretty good, too. Down here on the South Carolina coast I've had very good Fish Frys. In Maine, so-so, and on the Outer Banks I've never had very good fish for some reason, except one evening I remember in Duck where the shrimp was delicious. Other than that I'd be better off packing in a PBJ.
