I test ran their Beta version for a while on one of my laptops. I was impressed, but some of the themes/add-ons I use all the time had not yet been st up for it.
Maybe if they have upgraded so the add-ons work I will give it another try.
As for IE.......whatever version....bury it.

Same for me, Ralph. Initially excited about FF 4, when I found the add-ons didn't work, I went back to 3.x. And I felt like dropping them a note to say "don't bother me again until the add-ons work." Geeesh! The add-ons are what's so special about FF to me.

I am suspecting that when all the bugs are out and all that add-ons work that they will upgrade to FF4 with a regular update as they have in the past.
Till then I'll just stick with 3.6.

I have not tried FF4, but I learned early on that it is better to wait a few months after the final release so that the add-ons are compatible.

It does seem odd that some of the most popular add-ons like FlashBlock and Speed dial didn't upgrade for FF4 right away. But the killer for me was no FireFTP. Actually, I'd stay with Chrome, which I really like and it does in fact run faster. BUT it has three big problems, in my mind at least. It returns the "undefined page" on Proboards when it encounters the code to advance to the last viewed post in a thread, its version of Speed Dial doesn't allow you to specify a particular web page (huh unless I haven't found the key) and unbelievably font selection in the Blogger routines doesn't work as well as it does for Firefox, which is really strange because Blogger is also a Google product!

I downloaded and tried FF4 today. I was faster loading, but it didn't seem to play nice with proboards and kept hanging up while navigating the forum. It also dropped out of a window a couple times and returned to the previous window that I had been viewing. I was not enthused with those little glitches, so I dumped it and reloaded FF3.6 which is what i previously used with no problems. Sheesh. A lot of work to simply go around the block and back to where I started, ROFL. Has anyone else noted problems with it other than what has already been noted in the comments here on this thread? I should have simply heeded Ralph's advice, and waited for an automatic update at some time in the future, but I have never been known for my patience, lol.

I have one PC running FF 4 now and am using it with no problems on Proboards. The add-ons have been upgraded since my last post about them. It would be with XP. Did you reboot after installing it? I have Windows 7 running on this netbook, but the FF I'm using here is 3.6.17.

This computer runs XP, and my laptop runs Windows 7. I rebooted after loading it. I loaded it last night. This morning I thought that maybe it would be better and that it was taking time to get settled in and for everything to get upgraded to it. Not true. It was still not playing nice with Proboards, the OD page and a couple of other sites I visit. It would simply hang up and not want to load, and then after waiting for a significant period of time ( 15 seconds or more ) it would once again kick in and load the page.
3.6.17 loads instantaneously. I guess I will stay with 3.6.17.
I don't attempt any feats that require any supernatural computer knowledge anyway, haha.

I've used Firefox almost since it first came out & IE( only on my wife's netbook for about 3 weeks, but as for the 10 reasons.
1. Entirely subjective. 2. I haven't experiencened much in the way of crashes in either of them. 3. I don't have a Mac so I don't really care what works on a Mac. MY wife's machines are Vista & Win 7 so no problem either way. I'm still using an XP so if FF4 takes care of the issues I've heard about, I may upgrade. 4. Nonsense. If IE9 works, it works. 5. A tie isn't an advantage. 6. Another non-sensical arguement. 7. I'm not a big add-on user. 8. OK so FF 4 supports older versions of FF well, when I upgraded my wifes netbook to IE9 all the favorites & stuff from IE8 came over. 9. OK maybe. 10. Mostly fluff.
I like FF but this support piece not so much,

Re: Chrome
I like the Chrome browser & use it almost daily but one thing has bothered me almost from the start. On many sites, including Proboards, the rendering of standard fonts is "funky." In mechanical drawing terms, I wiould say the line weights are light and variable. Has anybody else experienced this problem & come up with a fix? I've tried various help sites but no suggested fix has worked.

I have never used Chrome. I have both IE and FF loaded on both computers. I am not planning on upgrading to IE 9 either. I use IE mostly to read attachments to emails from Kathy's brother. It is easier to download and read photos and stuff from his emails with IE.
I don't do photo editing, or anything fancy with a computer, so a basic program is all I need. I don't have any complicated or highly technical software packages loaded, or any complicated bells and whistled that I play with. I too avoid all the add-ons with FF. Just the basics that loaded with the original download, and I deleted some of those.

Nope, I don't have any problems. I'm not sure when I began using 4.0.1, but i didn't notice any problems or hang ups.

When I began using FF 4 the add-ons didn't work, were not updated. I went back to 3.6, but am back now on FF4 since the add ons have been updated. Chrome is faster. I do not like Chrome's Speed Dial and a couple of other things. I don't notice any line weight irregularities. If you want nice crisp "print" of fonts, try Safari for Windows.
One of the problems with all of these browsers I've noticed in the last year is that they are all beginning to look the same, mostly in the area of the user (me) having to hunt for functions which are no longer displayed as obviously as before. I assume this is because function has been added to such an extent that it can't all be displayed on the main panel.

I have been using FF 4 for a couple weeks now. No problems at all, the only add-on that doesn't work at the moment is my Beemp3 search bar. Other than that I am happy with it. No problems with ProBoards or anything else.
