I posted this in another thread for Ralph, but thought I should put it here, too, for anybody else that heats with oil or kerosene. The Citizens Action Fuel Group was started about 20 years ago by a group called Citizens Action, headed by one of the Kennedys (I think Bobby's son?). It's a co-op sort of deal where you join for a minimal amount per year (between $5 & $25) & receive your fuel through their contracted carrier at a savings (right now about 15 cents per gallon less). They also supply budgeted payment plans & reduced-cost repairs on furnaces/boilers. I was with them for many years when I used kerosene, & recommend them highly! www.citizenactionny.org/cafg/fuelgroup_index.html

Thanks for the info Stoney. Good to know. I will look into it if we don't go through with our plans to change over to gas this spring.

Love gas heat will sadly miss it. Unfortunately, no natural gas down at the lake, so when we build it has to be oil or propane.

Oh Denise, not good. Our oil bill at our new house is outrageously higher compared to my gas bill at my old house which I still have to keep on cause I have tenants there. Almost the same amount of square footage but the difference in cost is shocking. That is why we're changing over to gas in the spring.

We just got our National Grid bill for $148.88. Delivery of electric & gas~~$81.23. Supply of electric & gas~~$67.65. That's the one good thing about oil & kerosene: There's no delivery charge.

Oh but Stoney, if you could see my oil bill you would sh*t. I did! The price is totally ridiculous and even with the delivery charge we will be switching over to gas this summer.

I can understand that with the price of kero & oil what it is now. From what Ralph said it's unGodly.
You still may want to contact Citizen's Action in the interim.

C.A. says they save about 15 cents per gallon, so you may want to look into it for your next fill.

While it's not much, it's better than a sharp stick in the eye.

Right now till I sell my other house the bill is in my son's name. He makes decent money. Would he be able to get it also?
