I posted this in another thread for Ralph, but thought I should put it here, too, for anybody else that heats with oil or kerosene. The Citizens Action Fuel Group was started about 20 years ago by a group called Citizens Action, headed by one of the Kennedys (I think Bobby's son?). It's a co-op sort of deal where you join for a minimal amount per year (between $5 & $25) & receive your fuel through their contracted carrier at a savings (right now about 15 cents per gallon less). They also supply budgeted payment plans & reduced-cost repairs on furnaces/boilers. I was with them for many years when I used kerosene, & recommend them highly! www.citizenactionny.org/cafg/fuelgroup_index.html Wasn't that what the war on oil was about, cheaper fuel?

So much for that. It appears that we didn't get any, cheap or not.

But we had a war for oil and it was supposed to make oil 50 cents per gallon. Where is that pipedream?

No, it was only suggested that we were having a war for oil. That was the pipedream. lol

Good link and topic Stoney, we have no National NRG policy or plans therefore we are at the mercy of anyone who will dig oil out of their backyard and sell it to us! Bulk purchasing power and Cutting out the middleman are always the most likely winners we can effect ourselves.
Coals another choice but its still dusty even with the oil on it. I'm a garbage wood burner, wood pellets to be exact, the dust wipes off like dust not black chalk coal dust. They do 3/4 of my heating and its simple and easy to keep up with. plenty of bargain to be found if your looking hard enough. I burned about 2 1/2 ton so far and this year. I love them, pretty cheap, easy to move and you get a free garbage bag with ever fill-up!
I grew up with wood and promised I would never do that myself. I always hated the mess, bugs and almost lost hands and other body parts regularly due to chopping and cutting.
