Just caught the end of this news where three city employees were fired and escorted out by the police. I know the city corporate counselor, Linda F and Rob Palmieri were two but don't know why and didn't hear who the third one was. Any one hear more?

Kinda surprising, considering it just came out of left field!

Very surprised cause heard absolutely nothing about this till now. Still no reason given for terminating them. Not for any criminal reasons according to the Mayor so why the big secret then?

Don't have an opinion on the other two but as far as Rob Palmieri I have to defend. I have personally worked with Rob now for many years in the neighborhood watch groups and the man has earned my respect. He worked as a liaison between the people in the community and the police department and he has greatly improved the two working together on the crimes in our neighborhoods. I have personally witnessed Rob on his own time watch drug houses that we in the community had reported. The police department didn't always have the man power to watch constantly for drug activity so Rob would do it on his own time and report back to the police department that it was an active drug house which in turn resulted in the drug house being closed down and arrest made by the police. I also watch this man walk miles and miles with us in the neighborhood sweeps and saw many of the problems addressed by this man and corrected. One of which happened in front of our eyes where Rob spotted a wanted drug dealer who was arrested on the spot. Before Rob came on the scene we felt helpless with the problems we were facing in our neighborhoods. When he arrived we finally felt like someone was not just listening but addressing those problems. I'll bet my life if you go to any neighborhood meetings in this city most members will stand up and defend Rob just as I am.

Well, just watch the news on WKTV and learned nothing more. All the Mayor stated was it was because of "change." Would like to know exactly what "change" he means to do. And I'm sorry but that's a hell of a way to terminated anyone. No class in handling it the way the Mayor did. Disgusting and disturbing.

I bet it is as some of the posters suggest, to make way for arcuri's recently unemployed team...

I agree with Bobbie on this. The Sullivans were long over due in my opinion. But Rob has always worked his butt of in any position he held. I've questioned some of the positions they placed him in, but no one can dispute his work ethic. The man took every job he had seriously and did it 110%.
I know he wasn't happy when the Mayor forced him to take the Codes Commish position and Rob made it clear that it wasn't his decision. Taht didn't make the Mayor happy. Also, you have simply paranoid politics at play here. Many people have approached Rob and tried to get him to run for Mayor. Roefaro didn't like this and probably figured he would get rid of him and try making any mayoral run look like a case of sour grapes. I don't think it will work. If Rob decides to run, I think he has a great shot. There's another serious Democrat considering running. He's a current councilman and good friend so I won't mention names, but if he could get elected, I think he would make a great Mayor too.
This whole thing is going to end up a big circus. This goes way deeper than just "changing direction".

I may have made brush a little too broad in order to take a cheap shot (Yes I know that's a mixed metaphor, I hope it's not also "white hot political rhetoric." ) If for some reason Mr. Palmiri reads this I apoligise,
I think he may have damaged his political future by participating too long in the current city hall circus. He may have better served his own interests if he had left a year ago on his own terms.
But hey, it's Utica, who knows.

Well, if we're on the same page, this council person will not get my vote in running for Mayor. WHY, you ask. Because he's needed greatly in the area he represents now and those in that area don't want to lose him and all he has accomplished in just a few terms. Great councilman! ;D

Corner, if that's the case where "two mayors rewarded Rob with jobs just so he wouldn't run against them," then I have to say those two mayors must have thought the people of Utica felt Rob was going a good job in whatever position he held or those two mayors would not be afraid of him running against them. I feel they did have that to worry about. As far as qualifications.....tell me what qualifications Roefaro had to run and eventually become Mayor. Most feel he's doing a sh*tty job with or without the proper qualifications.

roffie obviously has no qualifications he just got lucky that people were in an anybody but julian mood bob is very personable and can be likeable but does not have the experience and qualifcations to do any law enforcement related work..as far as running for mayor people were afraid of his east utica base but there are skeletons in his closet that would eventually come out and put any credibility he would have in question.... Utica can do better for mayor and we have had better in the past..Roefaro even makes former mayor caruso look like a genius and he was dumb as a rock
