Just my 2 cents but... Most of the musicians on stage were products of the 60's and 70's. Andy may have started in the 50's, but Tommy started in the 60's. The rest of us started around 1962. Most of the music performed was made popular in the late 60's and early 70's. Yes we had a 2 day non-stop rehearsal, perhaps next year's rehearsal will be less time consuming. However it would be very helpful for any singers or musicians to know what songs they want to sing and or play. And should also let us know their preferred KEY. Hopefully we can avoid our singers from wanting to sing the same songs. Just my humble opinion.

You know, I've been thinking about that, tonyj. Here would be a good place for any of us to make suggestions about songs. My era of bands were not playing stuff from the Top 40 of the time. My time with the Bel Aires was from '59 to '62 or so. We never did any Elvis stuff, nor anything you would have heard on the radio that week. We played stuff like Didi-i Didi-o, Harlem Nocturne, For Your Love, Your Precious Love, Over the Mountains..... I can remember the ballads because I sang many of them. The "fast dances" are a little foggier in my memory. The music was classic rock band of the 50's stuff. Maybe you and others can help me remember which songs were staples in the Sixties and beyond.
If I play at Reunion 2011, I'm going to need plenty of time to practice! I've been picking out some tunes since I got my new keyboard a month ago, but they're from the Eagles and Eric Clapton, etc. None from the fifties or sixties. Not yet. I'd appreciate some suggestions.

Dave , your gonna sound great. it's like riding a bike. Once your fingers hit the keys it all comes back. The more singers and players that come on board the more fun will be had by all. The 50's and 60's were the era of real music. Dave the suggestions of selections that any of the entertainers should perform should be entirely up to them. If you feel comfortable singing opera or be-bop, it's up to you. This forum is a great idea and I'm sure Jay is monitoring it and will be keeping a list. Dave if I can help in any way let me know. Ronnie Colangelo helped me get into shape for the 2010, so I will be glad to pay it back.

Well, it may be something from Clapton, Elton John or the Eagles or CCR, because that's what I've been playing. If we could get someone to sing Sad Songs, I think I can do it pretty well on the keyboard. I like the upbeat version of the song. I like the versions, below. The first is beyond my skill level, meaning some parts of the intro, but the second version might be doable.

I've been looking at various versions of All Right OK You Win. I like Peggy Lee's original version, but can't find it on YouTube. There's a later version by Peggy, but I don't care for it. And no, I never cared for Ella's treatment of the song.
Here's a classic version by Joe Williams:
Here's an interesting treatment by the Silky Ray Band:
And this is sort of different. I like her phrasing, it's different.
And this last version is quite different, but I really like it. It's by Sandy Leah, a Brazilian singer.

Hi folks. I spoke with JP, and as of yet he has not got any feedback or commitment , other than the NYE players, for the reunion jam. JP is spending a lot of personal time, effort and money to make this jam happen. Please all you singers and players...Do not wait until the last minute to tell us you are making an appearance. Let JP know in advance "what cha gonna do" Singers , players, and bands are welcome. If ya need any help in getting keys or lyrics .... let us know.

Dave, you and Jon are gonna do a few tunes, right????we need you guys. Everybody is welcome. DOO WOP. It ain't lookin' too good, Tony. My voice comes and goes ... I mean just for talking. And I've been away for six weeks and I really don't have any songs to do. Haven't heard from Jon, so don't know if he's interested. But I plan to show up and listen, at least.

Aw, come on Dave. You and Jon have quite a few months before the second reunion to practice. We all understand none will be as good as the younger days and really that isn't important. Just seeing you guys on stage jamming together again is good enough for your once young audience. Give it a shot, kiddo.
