Okay!! I just deleted a post by one of the members that said that the reunion was off.
It seems that there is some sort of conflict going on but THERE IS GOING TO BE A REUNION ON AUGUST 18TH.
Just got off the phone who with another member who called me to inform me that the bands have been rehearsing and the reunion IS still going to be held.
I don't know what is involved in what seems to be some sort of conflict between members, and don't want to know.
The musicians thread, and reunion of musicians has been a wonderful thing for people that played in bands back in the 50's and 60's. Jon Hynes and Dave Griffin started a thread called "After Bebop A Lula: Bands of the 50's and 60's." The thread has run for 218 pages of fun and reminiscing. It also was active and successful on J Mezz's CNY Forum before that forum was taken down and Dave brought it here. The reunion jam grew out of that thread and through connections made by those that contributed to that thread.
I have never been able to be in town at the right time to attend the reunion so I haven't had the pleasure of meeting those that have played the venue.
I DO know that if the person that called me says that it is going to be held on August 18th, that it is not right for anyone to state otherwise. Whatever little peeing contest is going on between the members involved, it WILL NOT be carried on here on the forum, and will not be allowed to detract from the Jon's legacy or tarnish the atmosphere created by Dave and John Hynes that has been enjoyed by so many for so long. They put many many hours of their time over a period of several years into creating the thread, researching, putting up the playbills, and links on the original Bebop thread.
I am locking this thread for now.
For those that are playing at the reunion, you can still communicate by Private message or email in order to communicate any information necessary to the coordination of efforts between now and the reunion. I have not seen any coordination being accomplished using the forum, and obviously there are other avenues of communication among you, so there should be no problem with locking the thread.
All of you musicians involved with the reunion know each other much better than I know any of you. The Clipper's Busy Corner forum simply does not want to become a participant or platform in the underlying problem that seems to be causing some sort of conflict among you.

Sounds good, Dave. Sorry you can't make it. Was looking forward to visiting with you again. You will be missed. I will go with Jon in my thoughts and all the memories of the fun we had with Jon at last year's reunion.
