I simply don't know what to say about this. I was at the fire mere minutes after UFD arrived. The place was engulfed when I got here, at least the top floors, with no entrance to be had. For once I was stunned that firefighters outnumbered spectators at that stage. Klotz is nothing but an idiot. The saddest part is that if his house was on fire, they would do all they could to put it out and save his slimy a$$ www.uticaod.com/features/x2010183193/Klotz-files-notice-of-claim-against-city

I love the part where he blames his "stroke" & PTSD on the city. What a whacko.

Klotz is a degenerate slumlord. It's easier to place blame than to accept responsibility.

He might have passed off that crock of crap had his past history as a slumlord in Massachusetts not caught up with him.
Utica has one of the bravest, hardest working departments in the state. They risk their lives daily, fighting fires in old, dried out, wood frame, three story houses all over the city. NO firefighter would ever just sit back and neglect to make EVERY effort to access a dwelliing where inhabitants are believed to still be inside of.(Often at great risk to their own lives)
To simply allege such a thing is despicable. The scumbag had a damn stroke thinking about the lawsuits that would follow the fire, from his tenants. families. The PTSD is the guilt bursting through, when he lays awake at night thinking of those poor people dying, partially because he was a negligent landlord in his avoidance of inspection and certification.
Hopefully the families will win their lawsuits, the slumlord will end up broke and renting from another slumlord just like himself, and he will learn what it is to live in less than satisfactory conditions.

You can tell by looking at him that he doesn't watch his diet. Therefore~~stroke time. And it was probably just a TIA which is a precursor to a big one.

A precursur to the BIG ONE?? One can only hope. I would love nothing more than to see Klotz all curled up in a fetal position, unable to speak and at the mercy of some CNA who has to change his diaper. Karma works thuswise: I compare it to a baseball bat: First it sort of taps you and if you don't pay attention, it sort of taps you harder and then, if you're really really not paying attention it slaps you upside the head and asks: have I got your attention now?? No escaping that ol karmic bat. What goes around comes around and the breeze that ruffles your hair today will be a hurricane tomorrow.

The wonderful thing about America is that anyone can say anything they want and throw the blame off from themselves and on to others. The other wonderful thing about America is that such people, when unable to prove their charges, can get sued or convicted or in some way suffer the consequences. Swimmy would be a better judge, but I suspect this is part of Klotz's over legal defense strategy. And it sounds like a dying gasp.

Hey, Ralph could possibly blame DD if one of his birds strangles on a DD donut. What if he mixes the donuts up and brings the birds a "clunker" instead of a "dunker?" Those day olds that are destined for the trash could hurt someone, haha. Hey, if Paco were to get hold of a day old blueberry cake donut, he could drop a birdbomb that would knock the bottom right out of the birdcage, hahaha.

The Longo lawsuit is sad, but unfounded. How could the city have done anything differently? They took his service weapon, and put him on desk duty. He didn't live in the city, so they didn't have the jurisdiction to just take all of his weapons, and even if they did, he would have still had access to the knives in the house. It is all just a very sad tale that most likely would not have played out any differently no matter how the UPD had handled Longo's problems. They had no way of knowing how far he would go or that he would be desperate enough to do what he did.
His domestic life and his work life are two different things. The city had no control over his home life or marital problems.

Can you imagine going around with the last name of 'Klotz'? Kids would torment you in school!
