Plates? Whazat? Must be those pink things you old people soak in a cup at night. I don't have those. I am just a puppy yet. I can still chew steak and eat caramels or mary janes. I envy you older folks though. It must be handy to just throw your teeth in the dishwasher with the supper dishes instead of brushing and flossing.

You can suck on soft candy too, Clip. Even chocolate. What is wrong with men? They don't understand enjoyment of the consistency of food; they just inhale it. For shame, for shame. Bobbie, Jim bought the last 2 boxes of ribbon candy at the N. Utica P.C. yesterday. So try New Nerdford.

Right now the coffee pot is on and my home is a resting place for Bill's family. I'm only a few blocks away from St Luke's and they need the break from the hospital for a short time. They live in Rome so it's easier for them to come to my home. Bill is hanging on but I'm sure it won't be long before he lets go.

Just watch out for the chewy candy. A while back I was admiring my friends candy dish on her desk. The whole office use to stop by her desk for a treat. I liked the style of her dish and went to find one for myself. Once that done then bought some caramels to fill it with. Upon chewing on one at work when I went to open my jaw it would not open and once it did it took my cap off my tooth. I thought the dentist would just glue it back on. No....he had to clean the area and whatever. That little piece of candy and dish cost me around $400 something dollars. (I would not eat candy for the longest time after that)

Oh dear Chris. Sorry to hear about that. I have only one permanent cap and it is on a back tooth. I simply don't chew caramels on that side, but if I slip up, I could end up in your situation quite easily. My dentist told me when he fixed the tooth, not to chew rubbery bubble gum or bite on anything hard with that tooth. For the $1700 I paid him for the work, I have been damned careful, haha. Not too many years ago, I could have had my teeth pulled and a plate for not much more. The funny thing is that when I broke the tooth that has the crown on it, I was eating salmon and rice pilaf, not something hard. A small filling in that tooth loosened for one reason or another and I bit down on it and broke the corner off of the tooth. I see a dentist for cleaning and exam every 6 months. I am surprised that they didn't catch the loose filling. I take good care of my teeth. I imagine that food is not half as enjoyable or tasty with a mouth full of plastic. It has to impede taste or cover taste buds.I was blessed with good hard teeth and I hope they last as long as I do.

Chris, I think we all should learn from your experience. Me, Miss Smartly pants, this past summer being a good grandma and taking a sucker bought for me by my 5 yr old grandson (with his "own" money) took one bite to please him and cracked a tooth. New resolution after that and hearing your incident, will no longer eat candy. Especially hard candy and those with caramel in it. I PROMISE!!!!!!

You want to find ribbon candy and cut rock candy, but you don't want to eat it? Tell me if the candy dishes are full for the grandkids, that grandma won't sneak a piece of hard candy to SUCK on. Women suck candy, men chew, haha.

Women suck candy, men chew, haha. So, you have no faith in me that I won't eat any? Then you don't know me as well as you think you do. Sh*t, I'll do it just to shut you up and prove you wrong. Now, that's the Sunshine you should be remembering. ;D ps: Wow, another problem solved.....I won't have to worry about whether to suck or chew.

When I moved to Rochester and went to the dentist for the first time.....I told him I don't plan on parting with any of my teeth. So far he has kept his promise. I have all my pearly whites also. Strong Polish stock. ;D
PS...........Godiva chocolates is the way to go. No chipping teeth on them...maybe a cavity or few #'s if ya eat too many. (warning!!)

Hell, I couldn't afford enough of those to get any cavities, haha. I bought $100 worth in NYC once and was shocked to see how small the box was and how few pieces of candy were in there, haha. My ex ate them all in about two days.

Actually Belgium chocolates is way better than Godiva (and if I am correct I think I read somewhere that Hershey bought Godiva) But they are still worth it or the little Lindt truffles, or the Toblerone bars. Still the ones in Europe are better than the ones sold here....higher quality.
