Jim Parsons, the author, critic and writing instructor who reviewed my recent book, sent me a note asking permission to in an upcoming newsletter refer to our OGH project and send readers to the OGH pages. I have a counter on the first page and will post here when I see an upturn.
But I thought that was a really nice compliment to Fiona, mostly, with Jon and I in support.
Fiona, did you send me a bio yet to put on OGH1?

Dave, you know a great many talented writers, as close to home as some on your own site. Maybe some of those connecting through your critic, or through your More Stories site will contribute to the story at some point. I get impatient waiting for the next installment, but I am enjoying the story very much, and your writing is especially exquisite Fiona. The three of you are all great at what you do, and the research and illustration is great.

Thanks, Clip and Bz. Well, we keep asking for folks to participate. One doesn't have to be a writer, per se. Ideas are also welcome. And Artwork, whatever. From those right here on the Forum!

Dave: I was not aware of any of this, the fact that we are going to be reviewed by a noted critic! I am shaking in my shirt, now. Reviewed??? By God! Please do not consider yourself my assistant. That is poppy cock! You and Jon did all the back story, all the articals about the fire, things I would NEVER have been able to do alone. Just because I am writing now, means nothing. Others will write in the future, pick up the threads of this 'timeless" love story and weave a new tale. We are just the first to bring it out after all these years. Who wouldn't cry over "brave and debonair Mr. Hopkins" dressing "to die" and little Mary, who was waiting impatiently for her 16th birthday, in two weeks, so she could "kiss a boy", and lovley Sarah and John, and the heartbreak of John going down the fire escape in the back, 7 stories, with the "box" in his hand, and then going across the road only to find his wife and daughter not there. And the Albright house: that is a story in itself. Clip: I know it is taking a long time to write. I am sorry for that. I was ill the whole month of Feb with a sinus infection and bronchitus and I am still recovering. I spend most of my time doing research, this takes 90% of my time. Well, I hope the critic enjoys the writing and the story. Mabye the Gods of Genesee Hill will smile on us , eh? Dave, I will try and get that bio to you, ASAP. I have to look over the other bios and see what they contain. Cheers, Fiona.

Don't apologize to me Fiona for taking so much time. This sort of creative work doesn't flow from the pen overnight. It gives me something to look forward to with eager anticipation. Patience is not a virtue that I am noted for, haha.
Don't minimize your role in the story either. You have a wonderful way with words and are a VERY talented writer. It is a wonderful cooperative work with plenty of credibility to be spread equally amongst the three of you. Dave, Jon and yourself all seem to put forth an equal effort in different areas in order to produce the final product, chapter by chapter.
Don't be too humble. You are all great authors in your own right. Every good book takes a lot of research to give it credence, and Jon's research as well as Dave's and your own, does the job of making the story authentic and wonderful.

I'll second that Clipper. Fiona, Dave and Jon have done tremendous work to bring these people to life again. All very intersting, intriguing and enjoyed by all, myself included. My hat is off to all of you and thank you for sharing your talents with us.

Fiona, Jim Parsons said in his note to me that he wanted to the feature the OGH web pages and the our idea of putting together a novel online in his writing newsletter, which I believe he sends out to his on-line students. I would imagine he may also want to write about it for Suite 101. He asked for our permission and I gave it for us, although I'm sure it's not needed. If his newsletter is a web page, I'll post a link to it. If it's an email, I'm sure he will send me a copy and I'll ask him if I can post it, or if not for some reason, send it to you and Jon individually.

well, this is a novel, no pun intended, idea. I don't know of anyone else who is doing this. I think this is a very egalitarian way to produce a body of work. Also... cheap! But, who is Jim Parsons and what assocation does he represent? What interested me about this project is that 1. the research is readily available 2. the back story is right there. 3. the ongoing work in the form of questions, comments, ideas, can be immediatly accessed 4. many people can work on it at once. Well, I'm flattered. I am writing scenes today, so will check back for more messages later. Thanks all for your comments and support.
