Kathy watches it faithfully, and I hide out on here when it is on. Not my favorite. That is why I am on here now, as she watches American Idol. Also not my favorite, LOL.

I'm bummed . I was hoping Giles would win (and so sure of it...even the odds in LV were for him)
Could it be it is because he is French. (Personally I think its rigged.) ;(

I really wanted to see Shawn Johnson win. She's a little sweetheart with a drive and determination that is inspiring. I think Shawn Johnson deserved to win.
It was really close and in the end the American public made the decision.
Maybe the public was against Giles because he is French, but I don't think the show is rigged.

I was hoping that Shawn would win. I didn't like the French dude. I guess that I am not fond of his homeland, or their record of "using" the US and our american soldiers, with little or no gratitude. I thought Giles was "too full of himself" and a typical TV and movie celebrity. Maybe I am prejudiced but I find that the french are not suave and debonair, but that they are simply arrogant, effeminate, and conceited.
Shawn is just plain cute, all American wholesome, and a great athlete. She deserved to win. She worked very hard to overcome her shyness and her age to become a mature and skilled dancer.
It is the same story with American Idol. Everyone wants Adam to win. I want Chris to win. Adam reminds me of a cheap commercial for a gay goth hair and makeup salon. He wears more makeup than a stripper and probably buys his underpants at Victoria's Secret. To me that is not what I would want any kid of mine idolizing. I realize it is a talent contest, and it is the singing that counts, but it is pretty sad when a person that age dresses like that and finds it cool to wear that dyed black hair and all that eye brow pencil and mascara. Reminds me of Boy George.
What happened to the days when a male singer didn't have to wear a sign that said "I am a BOY" in order to make his gender apparent? You know. Like Elvis, Tom Jones, Nat King Cole, Ray Charles, Bob Dylan, Jim Croce.

Oh come on Clipper, get with the times. Adam IS an entertainer and a damn good one. If he were in Vegas, the show would be sold out and I would be in the front row. The kid is absolutely awesome. He's got more talent in his little finger then Chris has in his whole body. Chris is a cute kid and has all the teenie-boopers voting for him but he's definitely not in Adam's league. Not even close. Actually, I don't know how Chris got this far except because of his young followers voting for him. Besides Adam, there were quite a few much better singers then Chris who got voted off and it has turned into a popularity competition instead of choosing the very best singer which I am upset about. This is a talent competition and from the very beginning of the auditions Adam out-sing everyone. Never in the history of watching American Idol have I seen anyone as talented and as good as Adam. Well, tonight we'll know. If the public wants the best and someone who will have a very successful career after the show ends, they'll pick Adam. If they want cute and someone who will go no where after the show ends, they'll pick Chris. My vote is for the best and that is Adam. ;D

I agree she is cute, all American and great athlete but this was supposed to be about dancing. I felt she did more gymnastic moves than dance. Gilles who had no previous dance or gymnsatic skills, showed the most progression of coming from no skill to showing the best dance moves. (his good looks or being French should not have had any influence) The show is supposed to be about dance, not popularity contest.

In my opinion, it should have been Gilles, Melissa and then Shawn. I love Shawn, but the other two were better dancers. They were for sure, the top three.

Looks like I am in the minority here. I agree that Giles showed the most progress. But it should not be held against Shawn for her gymnastic background. Kristi Yamaguchi is a professional figure skater, and it was clear her skating background helped her out, but I think she deserved the win there too.
I also agree that it is about dancing and not a popularity contest, just like American Idol is about signing and not a popularity contest. And it still is, in theory. However, it became a popularity contest the second they allowed all of America to have a say in who proceeded to the next round and who went home. And once they did that, both shows became more popularity based and less talent based.
Look at billy ray cyrus. He should have never lasted beyond the first round, but his popularity carried him far beyond what any dancing judge would have allowed!

I think that the guy from Apple computers should have been in the finals along with the bullrider, hahaha. I never saw Giles do the worm. The guy from Apple was a natural talent! Bobbbiez, if it meant that you would have an opposing opinion to mine, you would sit in the front row in vegas to watch common houseflies fornicate! ::)LOL

Uhhhh! Gee Sunshine, 10:04 PM and CHRIS is the American Idol 2009.
He might let ya sit in the front row in Vegas when HE gets there.
The other kid with the Tammy Faye Baker make up will still be a millionaire. He IS a talented singer. He just came across as too over confident, and the goth thing didn't work.
Heck, look at Clay Aiken. I would not be surprised if he had made twice as much money as Ruben Studdard has made, and he came in second also.

Clipper, has nothing to do with disagreeing with you at all. I have watched American Idol each and every season and I have never missed a show. It is my favorite show because of the music. I'm just stating who has more talent in singing and not in their looks. Even though I think Adam is a very sharp good looking kid. Adam is far more talented then Chris and tonight when they sang together especially to Queen's song, Adam blow Chris way out of the park again. After the show I'm positive Adam will hit the charts over and over again and Chris will do nothing compared to Adam. Just as you stated Clay did to Ruben. Clay blew Ruben away with one hit after another and Ruben has done absolutely nothing. Ruben's win was an obvious popularity win. Just as the win tonight. Adam will succeed extremely well in his future and Chris has his moment of glory just for tonight. It just pi**es me off when the winner is chosen by popularity and the one with the real talent doesn't get the rightful excitement of winning the title. I do feel real bad for Adam. He has the whole package of a star and is an extremely nice kid. He worked hard every single week of the show for perfection and accomplished that with each performance. He deserved the title tonight and not have to prove it like Clay did after the show. Did notice that all the judges stood up when Chris was announced the winner, except, Simon. That tells me a lot and with time we'll see who conquers the top of the charts.

American Idol: Both Kris and Adam are winners. The only difference is that one is an apple and one is an orange. They're BOTH going to make at the very least, 50 times what you and I make in a year.
Dancing With The Stars: Same here. All three are champions. An apple, and orange, and a rutabaga. Both the stars and the pros are smiling (as Liberace once put it) "all the way to the bank."
Both shows very entertaining, and after all, that's what TV is all about. To entertain, keep us talking about the shows, and buying the sponsor's products.
