I think the singing was comparable. Adam just sucked you in with the showmanship and the makeup and the costumes. You are right in your observation that he would do well in Las Vegas (or San Franscisco) He has had a lifetime of training in the arts, while Chris is a married man with a dream to be a singer. He deserves it more than the other kid. That Goth crap turned me off before he ever opened his mouth to sing. Men don't wear eye makeup and black nail polish.
He fit better with Kiss than he did with Queen. I always crack up when I see that moron from Kiss, with clown makeup and a tongue that allows him to lick his own butt.
A musician that is well rounded is better in my estimation than a kid that simply can sing modern rock. Chris can play piano and guitar with the best of them, and can sing real music that takes talent to sing, rather than the rock and roll noise.

It just pi**es me off when the winner is chosen by popularity and the one with the real talent doesn't get the rightful excitement of winning the title. But you shouldn't, by design, those shows are popularity contests. Of all the winners and runners up, I think Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood have been the most successful!

Damn Clipper, even I at my age heard the tones, pitch and perfection in Adam's singing. Throughout most of Chris's performances including last night's, Chris was out of pitch. Even the judges commented to Chris to watch his pitch during most of the shows season. Between Adam and Chris the "singing was not even close to being comparable," and it has nothing to do with "apples & oranges." Adam far out-sang all the contestants on the show from day one. His ballad performances were just as beautiful and powerful as his rock performances. He IS capable of singing the telephone book and making people enjoy it. "Poor Chris deserved it because he is a married man with a dream to be a singer." lol!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is a show that is suppose to choose the "best" of them all and not for any other reasons. Well, the public got it wrong with Chris and I'm sure those that know music will agree with that. This is my opinion and I believe the out come was a travesty and a joke. Next season I will not continue to be a faithful watcher unless they do something to change the way of voting for a fair and rightful out come. My suggestion is have the judges give 60% of the final vote and the public 40%. At least this way it will not continue to be a popularity competition and the true talent will be allowed to shine at the finale. ps: Hey Clipper, "that moron from Kiss," Gene Simmons has been around for many moons now and has entertained generations. Kiss is one of the best and a very talented group followed by many, me included. ;D That tongue of his, (not to even mention his singing ability), has taken him smiling to the bank with each great performance and will continue to do so for many, many more moons to come.

Swimmy, what you stated is true and what I'm upset about. The show is suppose to be looking for the "best of the best" and not for feeling sorry for the the underdog or for their popularity. That is getting old and too damn obvious. Yep, do agree Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood have been the most successful, but don't forget the three who got screwed as Adam just did and have become just as famous, if not more, then the actual winners. Jennifer Hudson, Clay Aiken, and Chris Doughty. All of them were the best on the show and have proven that after the fact. ;D

Just your year for losers Sunshine. Giles, Adam, and the Rangers, haha. Maybe next year.
Yeah Gene Simmons' tongue has made him millions, and he spent half of it on rehabs. I can't believe someone your age thinks that the music that Kiss plays takes any talent to sing or play.
I have to disagree with the popularity contest thing. I think that Adam LOST because they DIDN'T make it a popularity contest. I was actually hoping it would come down to Danny and Chris.

TALENT my friend comes in many disguises but their long term longevity proves who has the true talent. Time tells all. ;D I love all kind of music. It's in the blood because of family and friends who have been in the field playing a diversity of styles. I enjoy rock, and heavy metal just as much as I enjoy the oldies, ballads, modern music and different nationality music. The only music I couldn't get into and I tried is opera. Just doesn't do a thing for me. One thing about me, no matter what, I am a devoted fan and will stand behind what I feel is right. I do speak the truth and most of the time will say what others like to avoid. I know why Adam lost and it sure as hell wasn't because he didn't have the "outstanding" talent. As far as my year for losses. First, I don't watch Dancing with the Stars so I didn't have a favorite and before ya count up the losses for the year just remember this my friend................my "Yankees" have an eight game winning streak going. ;D

I hope the Yanks keep on winning. They are my team also, although I watch the Braves here because we don't get the yankee games. I am surprised that you don't watch Dancing With The Stars. Most women love that show. Gee, are ya insinuating that Adam didn't win because he is GAY! I don't know if that was ever established as fact, and I don't care about the GAY thing. I just don't like the GOTH thing. We have a Goth bunch here that hangs out at Perkins. They have piercings all over their damn bodies, and look absolutely frigging ridiculous. It is a sick SOB that pierces their ear big enough to put a quarter sized black disc in the hole, and put piercings through their eye brows, and rings through their lower lip, studs in their tongue and nose. And then there are those OTHER places that these weirdos most likely have pierced. I just believe that american IDOL means that the winner will be the idol of the young kids that watch and listen to he or she. I simply don't think many parents want their kids to idolize a goth. A role model should be wholesome, not frightening, and a walking ad for a bad hair salon.

Damn Clipper, you are just being old fashion. My kids grew up following Kiss, Queen and many other rock groups, many were heavy metal groups. I had no problem allowing them to follow those groups. They still in their 40's go to see their favorite groups in concerts. My sons just went to the Casino on May 12 to see Queensryche (the American Soldier Tour). Their concert was sold out long before it was even announced here. Let me assure you they are their Mother's child and they enjoy Air Supply, Journey, Phil Collins and many other smooth entertainers and groups just as well. I think it's called being versatile and enjoying all variety of music. I really don't see where Adam is showing off all that gothic thing that bothers you. Other then in his performances which he dressed according to the songs he was singing, Adam is very subdue in the gothic area. If you watched the entire season of the show and you saw Adam filmed at home or in all his interviews he looks just like the nice kid living down the street. Adam in my book is a very nice looking, a clean cut kid with a beautiful smile and a super nice personality which comes from people who know him or have interviewed him. They all state he is just as you see him. Would I want Adam as a role model for my kids or grand kids? Sure as hell I would! I have always allowed my kids to form their own identities in their dress and in their music. Why would I change with Adam? As long as they stay out of trouble, be respectable and work hard for what they want, as Adam has done, then I would not interfere in any way. I'm not insinuating Adam is gay. I am only coming to a conclusion because of the many people I have heard who are against Adam and that being their reasoning. I know you must have heard that to. I'm just saying it the way it is. Do I feel that was the reason Clay Aiken lost the title also? Yep I do and again because of what I heard what people were saying about Clay at the time. I could care less what their sexual preference is. Both are super talented. I rarely watch TV shows that have to be followed every week. Actually, I watch very little TV. I get bored and can't sit that long. That's why I don't watch Dancing with the Stars. The only show I have watched faithfully since the show began is the Amer Idol and only because of the singing and the music. See, you learned another thing about Sunshine. It only took you over 20 yrs to learn that. ;D

Hey, life is about learning. If I took 20 years to learn that then I guess it must be because there was huge gap in those years when I didn't see you, and it wasn't like we were close friends. You were married to Vinnie when I knew you from Joe Tripps, and didn't have to wear this uncomfortable titanium cup, LOL. You were busy back then busting on Little Joe, and I was safe. Oh by the way, what is this crap about telling Todd to watch for the "worn out old broad" in the convertible?? When did ya get to be a worn out old broad? I kinda thought you were pretty well preserved and young looking for YOUR AGE, haha. As for Adam, I am guilty of forming opinions and impressions like anyone else is. I didn't watch Idol every week, and when I saw Adam, he was in all that makeup and crap, and I didn't like the goth look, so I formed a negative opinion of him from the start. Yep, I am old fashioned. I don't like men OR women with black nail polish and makeup that makes them look satanic. I am old fashioned. I still don't like to see men with ear rings. I don't like tatoos on women, and tanning in a tanning booth is the most ridiculous waste of money that has come along in many years, haha. It is like paying for skin cancer on the installment plan. I have to stand by my opinion. I didn't and don't like Adam, and I think Chris deserved to win. You had better tell Todd that he needs to look for the BLONDE worn out old broad. I would hate to see him jumping in the car with ROANNE DESTITO.

Hey, it's a holiday weekend and I'm sure Roanne has other plans then walking in a parade. After all, it's not an election year. I'm feeling old and worn out because of driving back n forth to camp to get it opened for the holiday weekend which I probably won't even be there much to enjoy because of other commitments. I really should be up there now but have to go to the annual police awards ceremony in the morning for my sons who are receiving awards. Then have to come back to the city on Monday for the parade. Believe me I'm not complaining, I want to be at both, but I am pooped trying to be in two places at the same time. Getting too old for all this sh*t! The consolation is my son is looking at a beautiful duplex house in Yorkville that he is seriously considering buying. The house is absolutely gorgeous and the area is so quiet you can hear a pin drop before it hits the ground. He wants us to move with him and I just might take him up on the offer if he buys this particular house. The house is on a double corner lot and if I do decide to move in the first time I would do is put in a hugh swimming pool with deck and patio. I would sell my camp and then just enjoy relaxing at home. No more traveling back n forth or opening and closing camp. It's beginning to sound mighty good to me. Will just have to wait to see if he ends up with this house and then make my decision.

Hey you guys screwed me up with the subject of Dancing with the stars. I should have known you guys wouldn't stick to the subject and end up wandering. I will have to try and keep up with you guys. Lately it seems that I am a day late and a dollar short from being where ever I need to be.

Todd is right. American Idol is another topic altogether.
But I must say, because that's about all I do, that one can't make a determination on just a person's voice. If that were true, Bobbiez would be right. Adam's singing has more range, power and precision than Kris. But the real test, which apparently has mistakenly been overlooked, is that the performers are judged on their "total presentation." That means their singing + their dress and affect + their preferred genre + their audience appeal. Looking at the big picture, I think Clipper is right. Kris is the winner in the long run. But as I said before... they're both winners because they're the best in what they do. And many of the other contestants ain't too shabby either. I'd like to see one of us schmucks who blabber on these threads hold an candle to any one of them. Never mind the money they're going to make - did any of us ever have that kind of talent? If so, why aren't we rich and famous?
There... I've said my piece. And everything I said is directly applicable to Dancing With The Stars as well.

I HAD a singing voice in my younger days, sang in musicals in high school, and solos in church into me thirties, but now thanks to age and too many years of smoking, I can't carry a tune. LOL. Kathy has been trying to find a product that is acoustical tile that can be used in a shower, and a sound proof bathroom door. I really SHOULD try out next year. I could be the next William Hung. Hell, he made a ton of money simply squawking his song from his audition, haha. I could pick a number that would be equally irritating to the ear. LOL
