Tauni, I used to frequent Cavanaugh's myself. My ex used to get here hair done every Wednesday at that little hair salon, two doors down from the Cove. I would love to know who you are and who your step dad is. If you feel comfortable doing it, drop me a PM and we can discuss it. If not, don't worry, I will not be offended. You know alot of the N Utica crowd, and I WAS the N Utica crowd in the 50's and 60's. I lived across the street from Barbara Holdrige that married one of the Cavanaughs.
My first ex lived in the gardens for a while, and she hung out with Debbie Jones, and Kathy Vallaro. One of my favorites at the Cove, was a gal that had endured throat cancer and had one of those voice things that looked like an electric razor, that she held on her throat to speak. I knew quite a few of the crowd in the Cove, and I would wait for my wife in there, and drink cokes and have a bag of pretzels. I loved that place. It was fun when "Wild Bill" would get half drunk and play the spoons to the music on the juke box, but it would get old pretty quick when he had a few more, and continued to play until is was just plain annoying, haha.

Oh my God! It's a small freakin' world. I used to tend bar at the Cove on Saturday nights & always hung out there. Old man Cavenaugh was a riot! You weren't there the night I tended bar in my Playboy Bunny outfit (Halloween), were you? Debbie Jones died about 10 years ago from high BP that was untreated. The one with the voice box died, too (Tootie), I think about 4 years ago. My step-father was/is George Casaletta . Mike, you little shit! Congrats on your long marriage! Didn't you have a child? I still have that tape I got from Dave Gelfuso when all you guys played in the band together. Great version of Godzilla! When you went with George & John (his brother) to Fonda, I think I was already 18 & moved into my own apartment, so I wasn't there. And you spoke of Mark Pasick~~he & I were friends when we both worked at "Super Saver" in our teens. His brother, Matt, is married to my husband's cousin & live in Florida.

Ah, yes. Wild Bill! Remember that truck with the long horns he had on it? What a nut! He constantly played There's a Tear in my Beer on the juke box.

Yeah.... Dave and I were in a band called "Major Dilemma" I'm looking at the poster here hanging in my office.... I think that is the one you liked so much.... If you go to www.mySpace.com/theblistertones there is my last band "The Blister Tones". We got together right after the band with Dave. There are some cool videos too. One of me with a Fu-Man-Chu.... LOL I talked with Mark Pasick a while ago, he lives in the Carolina's and I was looking to move down there a couple years ago! As far as my long marriage, that has a lot to do with me being sober for the past 13 or 14 years now. My seat at "The Cove" is long gone and so is "The Cove" Mark's uncle "Father Mark Pasick" is now the new priest at St. Marks.... and yes.... it is a small world!

U-R Modified Purse Hiked
VERNON-Local race fans apparently have enjoyed the modified sportsman racing so far this season at the Utica-Rome Speedway but three of the top local drivers haven't won a feature yet.
Lou Lazzaro, Utica, lost his car in the heat last week. Jerry Cook, Rome, has been close and Richie Evans, another Roman, has been knocking at the doorstep.
The purse has been increased. A modified win at Utica-Rome now pays for win and the 10th place finisher receives $100. Anyone who starts the feature automatically gets $50.
Buddy Thurston of Vernon will be looking for another win in the charger division after coming close the last two weekends. Lou Lanze of Liverpool had piston problems with his car a week ago and hopes to be ready for the mini-stock feature.
The three divisions of NASCAR racing-modified, charger and mini-stock-get the first green flag at 8 p.m. Gates open at 6.
