You know, Kim... once in a while you come up with a real good idea - and without your tongue in your cheek. Dunkin' Donuts courtesy of Ralph is a great idea. I assume that's the one just down from Jay-K Lumber.
You know Clipper, I never thought about the negative aspects of running off with a hot-cha-cha to join the circus at my age. But you've never seen these talented cuties in action. I'm sure they've thought of everything. I see these gals every year but have to make my move fast or they have a tendency to get married and have kids and all that stuff. Any photos would have to come from someone else. My hands are full of ham radio equipment when I'm working. But I'd be happy to tell Swimmy a whole bunch of circus stories from the past. Gosh, I'll even make some up if I have to.

Ya know kit, I just had a thought reading back over this thread. We have discussed alot about your career in music and music production on this thread.
I bet there have been readers of the thread about the 50's and 60's bands, in the entertainment history section, that have missed some of your stories and adventures from the old days playing music as a teen and young adult. Take a peek there and see what is missing. That thead has gone 19 pages and I am sure your history as a musician would be a welcome addition if you find time to share some more of it.

Clipper,
I went back over the thread about the old bands and musicians and the names brought back a lot of memories. We're working the Shrine Circus this weekend, but when I settle down (that's another way of saying "recuperate") I'll start adding what I remember to the local entertainment thread. There's a lot of it, so I'll have to do it a little at a time. But that's a great idea.
Kim,
There'll be a bit about Uncle Dave as well.

I can't wait to see it Kit. That particular thread has really drawn a lot of interest, especially from those of us who are of the age to have seen the bands in person.
That has been one of the things that I have enjoyed most about not only this forum, but of others as well. The opportunity to reminisce is always a welcome break from todays world and our daily routine.
The Be bop a lula thread has brought a lot of new members to this forum. Mostly band members who have been alerted by others and have found their old friends and members of other bands of the era here at Clipper's Corner.
I know that every town has had it's local bands that were popular, but I think that Utica and the Mohawk valley was especially blessed with a lot of talented and very professional bands that started out as "garage bands" and really became popular with area dancers and music lovers, as a weekend venue to enjoy good music and dance to great bands.
The era of sock hops and block dances is an era that kept a song in our hearts and our toes tapping. Kids today don't know what they are missing.
I think the last musician that really caught my ear, was Harry Connick Jr, LOL. (God am I feeling old, with that comment)
Try to resist the urge to join the Hot cha cha girls. You might hurt yourself!!!!

The circus wasn't as hot-cha-cha as I had hoped it would be this year. The gals were only so-so except for one. Of course, I'm in love again. She's the outstanding tiger handler. Hoo Wah! She didn't say very much but definitely knew what she was doing and looked oh, so nice with her natura blonde hair and dressed in tight black velvet. But like you infer, if I ever tangled up with her - I'd probably kill myself.
Part I has been posted to the Utica Entertainment History thread. I feel real weird talking about myself, but there's a lot of other people involved who your readers might remember. And I welcome any feedback from folks who can help me fill in the blanks that I never knew about. I'll be checking that thread and this one.

Gee, when I drank, I was kinda partial to brandy and beer, but a little blonde with a black velvet chaser would not be objectionable either, LOL I am glad you are posting to the be bop a lula thread. Don't feel self conscious about posting about yourself. You and your music are part of the history and the nostalgia that the thread is all about. We will all enjoy reading about your bands and musical ventures. It is a welcome addition and one more avenue that we have not heard about yet. I am sure that those who played in bands will recognize some of the names that you played with over the years. Like Bob Hope used to say, "thanks for the memories!"

General notice: I've switched over to the "Utica Entertainment" thread in the After Be-Bop-A-Lula section. Due to a time constraint, that's the only one I'll be checking.
Thanks to all for the warm welcome.
