I am heading out for the hospital. Kathy woke up yesterday in extreme pulmonary distress. Her oxygen level was only 65. She went by ambulance to the hospital and they put her on Bipap. She has pneumonia. They were able to take her off the bipap and put her in a regular room about 6 pm after being in the ER all day from 8:30 am on. With her lungs compromised by COPD as well as two bouts with covid pneumonia she is real prone to pneumonia because of her shallow breathing.
Say a prayer for her. Hopefully they can turn her around with the antibiotics and steroids so she can come home in a day or two. At 84 years old with crappy lungs every little respiratory hic up is a crisis.

Kathy is doing a bit better today. They sent her upstairs from the ER with the O2 set on 6 liters. Last night they turned it down to 4 and this morning they cut it back to the 3 liters that she normally sleeps with. Unfortunately whenever she takes off the canula she gets winded and her oxygen level drops. It looks like the oxygen is going to become a 24/7 thing. She still has an infection in her lungs and they are pounding it with IV antibiotics. This morning they tested her for MRSA just as a precaution. The doctor said he wants to keep her at least until tomorrow and probably a day or so longer to insure that she is free of the infection before she is released.
Thank you for the prayers

Oh Clipper thank God she is feeling a little better. At least Kathy is on the road of recovery. If she has to be in hospital for a few more days I think is a good thing so as to make sure she is free of infection. When I had covid pneumonia it was no laughing thing to deal with. My prayers will continue.

I have just been spending all my days at the hospital. Kathy is doing much better. The pneumonia is almost gone and they are giving her massive doses of IV diuretics to take the fluid off her lungs and around her heart caused the congestive heart failure. The only bad thing is that she has not been out of bed in so long that she can't stand or walk so she most likely will be going to a rehab for a couple of weeks according to her doctor. Thanks for the concern and prayers everybody.

Thank God! We were getting a bit there Clipper. Glad to hear she is doing better, despite the rehab. Hopefully she'll be able to start rehab soon and be home before Christmas. <3

She is definitely going to rehab and will probably be transferred there by ambulance on Monday. They did an MRI and she has had a small stroke. She couldn't hold a coffee cup or a fork yesterday and the day before. She is better today. The fluid around her heart and lungs is almost gone. She is upset because she will probably be in rehab for Christmas. I told her not to worry about it. There is just the two of us. We can have Christmas anytime.
Yesterday they got her up to get a standing weight on a scale and she couldn't stand. Her legs were buckling and they were holding her up with a gait belt. Between that and the trouble doing things with her hands the doctor ordered an MRI. It showed a minor stroke in the Thalmus portion of her brain. Thank goodness it is a minor stroke and she should recover completely.
