I was mistaken. My parents purchased the freezer with a food plan from a Food Plan in Phoenix Arizona in the early 50's. When I was a teen we had moved back to NY and they used to have the Rich Plan to deliver food periodically.

I received an email today from Lowe's on the washer repair. They attempted to contact the service guy numerous times to come back here to look at it & he ignored them. Lol. So they emailed me a gift card for $598.00 which was the price of the machine. So sometime this weekend it's off to Lowe's to pick out a new one. I've been looking online & most of the reviews are bad so I'm not sure if it makes much diference WHICH one we pick.
The old one will go out trash night. Lowe's wants $50 to haul out the old one. I'll take it out piece by piece before I'll give them another $50. I must be turning into a tight wad in my old age.

I remember the Rich plan when they delivered food to us. I also remember when times were tough and we went to the Armory on the Parkway to get are free government block of cheese and canned meat. My father was a very bad alcoholic and abused my Mom verbally. Luckily he was away from the family more than being present. He stopped working and we lost our house on Dudley Ave and had to go live at Adrean Terrace for about 10 years then we moved to Taylor Ave the 1600 block in a nice 3 bedroom flat. I guess the best part was when he died at the age of 55. None the less it was not a fun time growing up with him around.

The old man was a heavy drinker & verbally abusive to my Mom & as the oldest son I also got the brunt of it. He drank until he was in his early 60's when he got sick. He passed when he was 67. Growing up was not fun, but it's all in the past. My Mom also went to the armory for the free food when times were tough, which was often. I remember the cheese, canned chicken (yuck), peanut butter & powdered milk.

When we had the food plan I think they must have gotten the high dollar, ultra super package. Lots of hot dogs, and bologna, along with lots of chicken, and pork steaks. lol

Someone should tell the OD that they were supposed to start delivering the Sunday edition by USPS on 10/23. This Sunday the paper was laying on our front steps. Doesn't matter to me, I subscribed to the Rome Sentinal weekend edition which was deliverd to my mailbox Saturday. I still have to call the OD to give them the bad news before they bill me again. Made a note to myself.
