The OD is probably to blame. If they had a press problem, a delivery truck break down, or other issue, they probably couldn't get the papers to Utica in time for the carriers to get them out. When I worked there, there was a few times when the press went down for an hour or two and by the time the paper went to press some of the carriers had other jobs to go to and me, my assistant and the district manager got to spend the morning delivering papers on the routes where the carrier didn't deliver. I can only imagine how much more complicated it gets with the paper not being printed in Utica.

I called the OD toll free number this morning & of course I had to talk to a CSR located probably in India or wherever who promised to look into it. Yea, ok. I'm going to look into the Rome Sentinal to see if they publish a Sunday edition. Pizs on the OD, i tried the e edition yesterday on my tablet & it was a joke.

Rome Sentinel does not publish a Sunday edition. They put out a Saturday edition that is called the "weekend edition" and it has the coupons and flyers in it. The OD always benefited from that fact. We delivered the OD bundles to carriers and businesses with 12 company vans, but due to the large circulation numbers in Rome we had a larger box type van to deliver bundles to Rome and Sunday was the day that required the most bundles. There were a lot of retail businesses that ordered the OD bundles due to the fact that people stopped on Sunday specifically to get the Sunday OD or Syracuse Sunday paper.

BHU, how did your washing machine repair work out? Ours quit spinning last week and I got to hang out with the repair guy. Before he started, he told me that if the gear on the basket was stripped, he had a replacement basket in his truck. If the gear on the motor was stripped, the washer was going to the curb. The plastic one on the basket was stripped not the brass one on the motor so we have hope for a few more years. He said that there are only a few brands he will even work on anymore. Lucky for me one of those brands is Maytag.

The plastic one on the basket was stripped not the brass one on the motor so we have hope for a few more years. He said that there are only a few brands he will even work on anymore. Lucky for me one of those brands is Maytag. Well, it's a long story but here goes. The repair guy came out 2 weeks ago & cleared some error codes, cleared out some tube that may have been plugged & he decided that the basket needed balacing rods which would throw everything off if they were wore. He came back a week later & replaced the rods. Good to go, so he said. A couple days later the other half did a full load & the sucker wouldn't spin. She took out half the clothes, soaking wet of course & I told her to try it on a smaller load & off it went, no problem. I called Lowe's who sold me the extended warranty this past Friday & told them what happened. They are supposed to contact the repair guy & I haven't heard anything since. I'll give them a couple more days before I start putting the screws to them. So, we'll see what happens. It better be quick cuz I ain't bringing her to some laundramat to hang around with a bunch of old broads while she does laundry. Lol I asked the repair guy what he thought of GE washers & he said GE stands for "Good Enough". This machine is only 5 years old & it will be the last GE appliance that I ever buy. He also told me that he gets more calls for Samsung washer repair then any other brand. Good luck with yours.

There's an old washboard in our basement that's been down there since we bought the place & I never got rid of it. I pointed it out to her & told her there ya go if the machine can't be fixed. That went over reeeeal good. Lol

I hope you have gotten the washing machine issues addressed and fixed. The quality of workmanship in modern appliances really sucks and not all technical improvements turn out to actually be any improvement.
We have a Maytag washer without an agitator and Kathy hates it. The electronics make the damned thing a pain in the keester. It actually weighs the clothes and dispenses what is thought the be the optimum amount of water to do the job. She hates it because she can't simply "fill" the tub and leave anything to soak. It may save on water but it damn sure doesn't save on frustration and aggravation.

The repair tech lifted the machine & pulled out a sheet buried in there with spec/troubleshooting codes etc. Nice place for it, lol. I got an email this morning from the warranty company informing me that they'll get back to me how they're going to proceed, like maybe fixing it? So, we'll see. The last washer we had was a Whirlpool that lasted about 8 years without a problem till the gearbox started leaking oil, so to the curb it went. It didn't have a damn CPU in it. My parents had a Kenmore upright freezer that ran for over 30 years without a single service call. When she passed away it was still running so we gave it to her neighbor.

We have several washing machines some with a different model I never pay attention. All I know it that the dryer closest to that back way doesn't dry to cloths completely, lol.

My mom and dad bought a freezer through the Rich Plan in the fifties, moved it here to Tennessee in 1976 and when my mom died in 2004 it was still running like a Swiss watch. My dad got $50 for it at the estate sale when he came to live with us. I doubt that it was anywhere close to "energy saving." When the compressor kicked on I bet the meter spun like a 78 rpm record. I remember my mom defrosting the thing with pans of hot water and a hair dryer
