Yeah, but for how long?
I don't know what to 'call' what is happening in West Utica these last half dozen years, but it is moving ever closer towards causing a blight on Yorkville and the other towns and villages.
I say let a qualified Chef come in and, using Schecter's mushrooms, mix him up a nice gravy for his pasta. Then make him eat it all.

I do agree people are blind about drugs period anywhere. There are drugs everywhere in the city and in the surrounding towns, and people have a tendency of pretending that its not in there neighborhood until something happens.

But Rick you want to know what really makes me mad is that people are so ignorant to point the finger. You have people in Utica saying hahahaha, instead of the people in the towns and in the city working together they work against eachother. Where I live if you were to ask people you would here oh there are no drugs in our small town. It is stupid and it pisses me off!

My husband has worked in the Oneida County Drug Task Force as an investigator going on eight years and it amazes me how bad the drug problem is all over not just in one particular area. Drugs are everywhere and have been for years. They are in lower, middle and high class neighborhoods in the Towns, Villages and City's. People that think differently are just plain STUPID!

Drugs are everywhere and have been for years. Absolutely true. You can buy them anywhere ... school, the library, any bus stop, etc. And there are lots of dealers who deliver.

You kids today with your new-fangled drugs. When I was your age we didn't use ether to make drugs, it was the drug! And we were happy!
Why, we had to walk uphill both ways just to score a little from our ether man...and another thing....(walks off, muttering to self about the good ol' days)....

Lucy, if you've been reading any of my other posts here then perhaps you know that I'm heading north in a number of months. I really like Mohawk. It is a peaceful and quiet community where people are friendly and everyone DOES watch out for their neighbor, normally. Drugs is an epidemic in all of America. I have no doubt that it is organized in Cities like Utica. I also know that it is up north, but with the nearest neighbor being far enough away that no breeze will bring a whiff of pot (or worse) past my nose ... I'm headed north. Yes, there ARE illegal drugs in ALL the communities regardless of size. I don't think the local police agencies can handle the ROOT Of the problem. They're only taking down the dumb opportunists like this goofball in Yorkville on Champlin Ave. with his magic mushrooms. So yeah, I have to agree with Smiley. Hi Smiley! Nice to make your acquaintance, btw. My hat is off to men and (those few) women that work in the field of illegal drug enforcement. It all boils down to greed for many people. Greed on one side, and dummies on the side of the user. And look! You've both not mentioned YOUR communities in talking about the problem. It is your right, but imagine how tough it is to get people that live in a neighborhood and don't want to get involved or 'rat' on their drug using neighbor, right? Maybe we WOULD Be better off if it all was just legalized and controlled by the Government. Everything! Hell, toss prostitution in there too! Let's make sure that people in high positions like Spitzer get a free pass. Ummm... No. Let's all complain more to the authorities and demand that laws on the books be followed. The legal system exists for an explicit purpose. But all it really boils down to is money.

I apologize if you think that was directed to you, I didn't mean to direct it at you, when I started the thread I was reading some stupid comments on the wktv, and od website and that is what got me going, that those people are such idiots. I didn't mean for it to come out like how it did now that I've read it. I'm sorry, I only hope that you can forgive me.

by the way I live in Westmoreland and when something happens here it makes every news paper with people saying in the community wow there are drugs here? When I was going to school there was a drug bust, and it happened on more than one occassion. Drugs are everywhere, even the people you wouldn't think of do them.

rick...Nice to meet you. I was not pointing fingers at you either. Making a statement about how some people reacted to the bust because it was in Yorkville. I live in Rome and it is loaded with drugs always has been....I remember as far back as Junior High School.....Anywho I don't really know what the right answer is in regards to getting and keeping drugs off the street is, I don't think anyone does or we wouldn't have the problem that we do!

I think some people have such deep-rooted problems with life & how to handle it that they turn to whatever gives them a moments' pleasure or content feeling. It's happened throughout time with a myriad of substances, the most popular & easily accessible one being alcohol.
Personally, I don't put these people down, but actually feel sorry for them having this intense need. Is it a mental illness like depression, which often goes hand-in-hand with substance abuse? If it is, why do we treat said people with such disdain?
