Governor Hochul Signs Legislation Package to Combat Opioid Crisis S.2523/A.868 Decriminalizes the Possession and Sale of Hypodermic Needles and Syringes Legislation S.2523/A.868 decriminalizes the possession and sale of hypodermic needles and syringes. The act of decriminalizing drug-related paraphernalia contributes to public safety by permitting harm reduction approaches for those suffering from substance use disorder and by reducing the rate at which HIV and hepatitis are transmitted. www.governor.ny.gov/news/governor-hochul-signs-legislation-package-combat-opioid-crisisDoes not make any sense. Reminds me of some thinking years ago concerning people addicted to opiate drugs. Have shooting rooms set up across NYS and other States that are supervised by Registered Nurse's which would allow for the SAFE USE of Opiate Drugs for addicted individuals. This would prevent drug overdose. Lately with my many walks I find syringes all over the place that were discarded.

I recently read about someone that had been caught with an enormous amount of Oxycodone pills. I mean a HUGE number of pills. So many pills that he was grinding them in a spice grinder and bagging them in the little bags like heroin. It sounded to me like he might have been part of a group robbing pharmacies. He had 4 ounces of the ground up product and over 1000 pills. One oxycodone pill here can go from ten or fifteen bucks to much more than that according to the police. They estimated what he possessed had a street value in excess of $15,000. Oxy and meth are the most sought after street drugs right now around here, although there have been several deaths attributed to heroin laced with fentanyl.

Barb gives me a monthly Vitamin D shot. The doctor wrote up the prescription for the vitamin then the pharmacy called for a separate scrip for the syringes. I don't think there a lot of people shooting up Vit D to get high.

It's cheaper to set up shooting rooms for drug users then it is to build treatment centers or to pay for treatment for those who want it. Just another band-aid.
Me thinks that the powers to be have washed their hands of ever getting control of the opiod problem & are resigned to the fact that it's just something that society will have to learn to live with. Nobody gave a damn about heroin addiction unti it hit the middle class & the suburbs. When they did it was too late & now it's out of control.

Anyone remember when the government set up Drug Czars. That idea blew through the roof. It is ironic but weed was always seen as a stepping stone to hard drug use. I think that was proven. However what happened we filled out jails and prisons up with weed users and sellers we even did not allow the smoking devices associated with the smoking of weed to be legally sold. Walk in any tobacco store ( not sure about other States but in NYS and business that houses a pharmacy cannot also sell tobacco products so now we have many specialty stores; hey we created new industry and many new jobs.) and look at the many types of pipes of various sizes and material. I think locking up so many people( especially blacks and browns) that weed had to be made legal as well as the devices used to enjoy the product. Now I read that the amount or weed a person can have on them has increased as well as how much a person can grow!!
Rest assured the same will eventually happen with hard drugs like heroin, meth, crack and cocaine. I am not sure if crack and cocaine today are even considered hard drugs even though so highly addictive.

Ya have to be careful where you stand at the Centro Hub do to so many smokin weed before going to work or after work or just for the hell of it. I hate that smell. We have two on my floor they are supposed to go outside 25 feet away from the building or use the smoke shack ( MHA spend near $20,000 to build a mini-house for them to smoke in). If ya complain nothing is done or in my case told I complain to much. I am just hoping to move. I have to stay with HUD but not with Public Housing like MHA because rents are so high. HUD sets rent at 30% income level so I can go as high as $348/month.

I still think it is best to let them go rather than administer Narcan and continue the problem. Sounds cruel but it does end his drug addicted behavior.

The day we let people die just because they're addicted to drugs is the day we're no better then North Korea. Should we let alcoholics just die too?

It would end his drug addiction problem, but it would intensify the grief of those who loved him and are left to mourn the loss. It is an addiction. Many addicts end up addicted due to circumstances unrelated to recreational use.

As far as alcoholics there is a huge difference between them and drug addicts. Alcoholics are using legal sustenance to their regret. Drug addicts use ILLEGAL highly addictive substances.

WKTV News Hour just mentioned that full flower marijuanna is now available in NYS marijuanna outlet stores. What does that mean?
