If I remember the radio report I heard on the way home tonight, that's Arcturus on the left, Saturn on the right. The rings should be visible with a good pair of binoculars. Without the clouds, that is.

It's clear outside! It's freakin' incredible. Saturn is above the moon. I can see the rings.

Whoa, it's cold outside. I can't keep my telescope steady any more.

Kim's impressed. As I was sitting here warming up, the TV flashed a full-screen shot of the eclipse. I'm wondering why I spent a half-hour setting up my telescope now.

I'm going outside to see whatever I can see. Good night Kim. Sweet dreams and blessings to you and yours.

Frank I'm jealous! I have a telescope and have no idea how to use it. My mother-in-law gave it to me and it had no directions. I looked with binoculars, but didn't see any rings. Still pretty cool though. Getting really cloudy here now.

My GD and I went out searching for a good place to watch this eclipse. BUT - due to the cloud cover, and several different spots, we were unable to find a place where we could actually watch the entire episode.
So, we spent 45 minutes driving around in cold weather before we finally decided to go back to our warm home and watch it on the 11PM News.

Thelma, you should have drove up here. You would have been welcomed if you didn't mind the drive. It is very cold out but the sky is just as clear as it could be with lots of stars and no clouds at all. We saw the eclipse perfectly. Totally awesome. Just want to know what frank is on because we looked through our binoculars and couldn't see the rings around Saturn. ;D

Thanks for the invite, Bobbiez - but I'm too "old" to make long trips at night anymore. I can remember all the nights I use to love to drive with the top down on the convertible and the radio playing and looking up at the stars in the sky (during summer and warm nights).
Where did those nights go! One minute it seems like you're young and then in a flash, you've become a Senior Citizen!!!

Okay, how much do I owe you for the good advise? Now, keep it real since we are friends. This piece of advice is on the house Thelma, You should have come out to nh, we were able to see it just fine. My camera shots didn't come out, stupid 3.0 megapixel with a shoddy flash from 5 yrs ago.
