www.wktv.com/content/news/Two-in-custody-after-an-alleged-attempted-robbery-at-New-Hartford-Walmart-574082431.htmlWTH. I have read many times about robberies in Walmart parking lots, and here in Bristol a cheating wife and her boyfriend killed her husband as he walked to his car at the end of his shift at the store. But NOW I guess one needs to worry about scumbags robbing them INSIDE Walmart as they shop. We are living in a time when some misguided teens think it is cool to be the gangsta that packs a pistol, and car jackings and drive by shootings are not uncommon. Has the world reached a point where retail outlets need to arm their security personnel? I wonder how many lives could have been saved if the Boulder Colorado King Sooper's manager or a store security person had been armed and could have shot the shooter before so many lives were taken. Sadly we have reached a point where stores NEED an armed employee to intervene in an emergency because a deranged mass shooter can kill a whole lot of innocent people while waiting for the police to respond. PB. Be careful out there. You go to that same Walmart store frequently. Like that police sergeant on tv used to say, "be careful, it's a jungle out there." It is a pretty sad development when a person can be in jeopardy even while shopping inside a crowded store.

Apparently, these 2 thugs attempted to rip the gold chains from the necks of two shoppers. You can break someone's neck or choke them by doing that. This is an old NYC trick from the early 80's, when this was happening all over NYC, until people got smart and wore their gold, while also walking their pit bull. I can't believe that not one person saw anyone bring a gun into the store ( mabye it was hidden) or that there were no rent a cops around. Anyhow, I haven't been in that store in a year. I never feel safe in there. It's not called "Wacko World" for nothing.

I often see some women leave their pocket book or whatever it is called in the upper section of the shopping cart and actually walk away from the cart to get something off a shelf. Not good practice.
I knew an elderly lady who is passed away now who was coming out of McDonald's on Mohawk St and attempting to cross that back part of Walmart to the Mall. Some kid starting circling her on his bike then reached out and pulled her gold chain with a small medal of the Blessed Virgin.
She reported it to the police but it was never found. She was in 80's and the chain and medal belonged to her mother. What a shame.

Did the leg irons include a sizeable ball and chain PB or were they simply irons held closed with a good old fashioned padlock? I can't imagine the NH police even carrying leg irons. I was disappointed when I couldn't locate the photo or video of the perps in leg irons.

That punk with the loaded 9MM should be locked up for at least 10 years. Longer if he's a persistent felon. Enough.

I agree BHU. Instead of infringing on those of us that legally possess and carry a weapon, the emphasis should shift to taking drastic and life changing action against those who are caught with illegally carried guns.
Yup. Hey punk, whatcha got in that waist band? Hmmm. A 9mm? How old are you? 17 you say? Well, I guess your parents will get used to seeing you a couple times a month on visiting days. Cya when you are 35 or 40.

I think leg irons went out in the 1930's along with perps in striped suits grubbing the roads while being overseen by a rifle toting sheriff on horse back.

If you have even seen prisoners being transported they are in leg iron . Chains attached to the ankles and waist tied into the wrists. No one gets my humor but I love it. We need to get much tougher on these perps. Now we release the jerks with an appearance ticket. Here ya go artsyone I even chose a white on: lol jerk doesn't know what leg irons are lol

They still use leg irons to transport prisoners within the corrections system but I have never known a police dept to use them. They use a strap called a hobble to insure that the prisoner can't kick or run. When I drove for Birnie Bus after Central Coach closed we hauled prisoners from one prison to the other on a contract. There was always three guards and the senior guard was usually a sergeant and he was the only one armed with a firearm. All of the inmates were in leg irons and handcuffed together in pairs.
The state insisted that we do no more than 55mph. It was a pain in the ass to drive from Rome to Auburn or Attica on the Thruway doing 55 when the speed limit was 65. When we got to one prison and offloaded whatever number of inmates were destined for that facility, they would take on other inmates that were going to a different prison. We might make a circle and hit 3 or 4 prisons before we headed back to Rome. The longest day I ever drove for them included Rome to Attica, Attica to Auburn, Auburn to Elmira, Elmira to Coxsackie, and then finally home. We were exempt from DOT log book regulations when transporting inmates and sometimes spent 14 or 15 hours behind the wheel. I hated those trips.
YES, they were in leg irons. That is the only time I have ever seen leg irons used. The officers used to strictly insist that we drove 55. After all if we took 12 or 14 hours they were all on high dollar overtime.
