OK folks....my brother is coming from New Hampshire with his girlfriend who grew up in a little town in New Hampshire. She has never eaten at a really good Italian Restaurant with good pizza. Let's hear some suggestions of where to go when he's here. I would tell him LaRoma's or the Plaza in Rome. Maybe Tony Sparagna's or Delmonico's in Utica? Too bad there no longer is a Marina's or Losurdo's in Rome. Opinions?

We always go to Tony Sparagna's for pasta when we are home. We also usually eat at least once at Aquino's on Floyd Ave. in Rome. I have always loved Aquino's pizza, and I also love spagetti there with sweet and hot peppers when they are available. They have great lasagna at both places.

I would recomend Georgio's on Genesee St -New Hartford. Also, if you think they would like chicken riggies, i must say spaghetti kettle's are very good. Grimaldis on Bleecker st is to die for.

LaRoma's pizza is really good, I miss living in Rome for that.

I would definitely suggest Grimaldi's for Italian food.

Charlotte's Creekside in Oneida has cut back on their menu lately but there are some incredible Italian dishes there. I recommend the Savoy in Rome for good Italian food and because, well, it just feels like an Italian restaurant.

My wife says to skip Cavallo's in New Hartford. She was there a few weeks ago and said it was terrible. She was quite disappointed, because years ago we ate there regularly and always enjoyed it. To each his own, however.

Frank I have to disagree with you about the Savoy. I have been there only once and that was my first and last time ever eating at that place. They brought my daughter uncooked chicken it was bright pink. Their Chicken Riggies are very bland. The food just wasn't all that. You could never go wrong with The Franklin. The food is cheap and its always good.

No....not the Savoy. I've been there 8-10 times and never been impressed with the food. It's overpriced and you don't get very much compared to other restaurant's in the area. Even my husband, who doesn't complain about food, doesn't like to eat there. I don't find the atmosphere that appealing either. Although can you imagine what somebody who doesn't know how good the food is, would think upon entering the Franklin? They don't give a good impression decor wise, but the food is awesome!

Good points about the atmosphere of the Franklin. There's no question that their food is very good.
I enjoy the atmosphere at the Savoy (how can you not like a piano?) and maybe I'm just lucky that the foods I order are always superbly prepared. The Filet Al Ciccio with a glass of Chianti can bring tears to my eyes.

The Franklin has great food and large portions but if you want a good atmosphere and decent food the Savoy in Rome is great! I have always had a nice meal and the people and piano make it a great experience. P.S. The Martini's straight up with an olive are the best!
