Thanks Kit. Kathy still seems to be doing okay. The unit is so busy that it is not easy to get a chance to actually speak to a doctor but the nurses are always available to speak with me. I am still the same. One thing I have to note is that it just knocks the crap out of you. I have to force myself to stay busy and active otherwise I could be content sitting in my recliner, watching tv and napping. Yesterday I cleaned both bathrooms, ran the dishwasher, washed two loads of laundry, and took a bag of things up to Kathy. Candy bars, bananas, some cash so she could have the nurses bring her a subway sandwich when the nasty food is too nasty to eat, and clean pajamas and undies. I took the dog with me and took a short ride around the area just to get the dog out of the house for awhile. She loves riding in the truck I was just sitting here finishing my second cup of coffee even though I have not been able to taste or enjoy either of the two cups, and contemplating what I might do to stay busy today. I was going to make a small batch of corn muffins. I love corn muffins with a drizzle of honey, but I am thinking it would be a wasted effort since I won't taste the honey on them or care. Probably have a bowl of Cheerio's and call it done. Not really any sense in even putting sweetener on them. Have a great day. Stay well and be careful. This shit is no joke for people our ages. Glad to hear that Kathy is feeling better & that your condition hasen't worsened. Hopefully within the next few months we'll be getting the vaccine & we can return to some semblence of normality. It's been a long haul. Stay healthy.

Sleep/nap if you need too. Listen to your body. It is smarter than the average bear. Luckily you are able to deliver things to Kathy. Out here or up here the hospitals are locked up tighter than a Scotsman's purse...no insult to any person's of Scottish descent watching, you understand. I am just searching through my "poor analogy" bank and that's all I could come up with. Blessings to both of you and for your speedy recoveries. Snowing today and of course it's pitch black now. I had Chinese delivery today. It was the hit of my day, Dragon and Phoenix and one shrimp egg roll. Just in case your wondering, I found this image on the web and thought I'de share it.

Hey, artsyone I love Moo Goo Gai Pan. Very healthy. Many variations out there but I favor the one from the North Utica Shopping Centers Chinese Eatery.

I love Moo Goo Gai Pan. We order Chinese about once every week or ten days. I get the Moo Goo Gai Pan or shrimp fried rice, and Kathy gets shrimp lo mein and we get a couple eggrolls.
Got some great news a little while ago. Kathy has to have one more IV bag of Relafin antibiotic in the morning and I can pick her up late afternoon and bring her home. She is doing remarkably well and they have the oxygen turned way down. They will evaluate her O2 with moderate exercise in the morning and decide whether she needs to come home with supplementary O2. She says she feels fine and just wants a meal of something that is actually fit of human consumption and a good cup of coffee without powdered creamer, haha. I am doing well also. Just dragged out and I have lost my sense of taste and smell. We have been very fortunate and dodged a big bullet but this virus knocks the living crap out of you. Stay well, and stay safe.

Well the doctor never got back on the unit to check her labs and write her discharge so she is there until at least tomorrow morning when he does rounds again. She is doing fine but we are disappointed. Pretty damned lonesome around here. We are seldom apart for more than a few hours.

Finally had a call from, and was able to speak to her doctor for the first time. He said the reason he has been holding off on discharging her is that he wants her to complete the present round of IV antibiotics before she leaves. Today is the last day of that regimen and he assures me that she will be able to come home tomorrow. He said that she is breathing great and has made a remarkable recovery. We are extremely blessed. So many families are not so fortunate and will be mourning a loss instead of celebrating a recovery this Christmas. I pray for ALL of those that are experiencing this virus up close and personal. it is scary and unnerving to say the least, as well as debilitating. I am feeling fine but still haven't gotten back my sense of taste and smell. Just tired and that is one of the lasting symptoms that takes a significant period of time to go away. God bless you all. Thank you for all the prayers. You are also in MY prayers for safety, wellness, and a nice Christmas.
I was messaging with a friend this morning. They are very active in a local Baptist church and were among those complaining about not having in person services. Well, they went ahead on and attended inside worship services and now their pastor is on a vent and not expected to make it. The social distancing and restrictions are very inconvenient, but obviously critically necessary. Sadly people will once again toss caution to the wind and have large family gatherings and church services over Christmas and many will pay dearly for it.

That's great news. Glad to hear Kathy will be home for Christmas. I have a family member who has the virus. She has the same symptoms that you have including loss of taste & smell but is feeling better as of yesterday, but very tired. Like a lot of people she's not sure how she was infected because she followed all the guidelines. The suspicion is that she got it because of the half assed cleaning practices in the office by people who are tasked to do it. I think a lot of people who got infected got it from touching surfaces where the virus has latched on to. But, I'm no expert.

Kathy is home! Picked her up about 1pm. She is still on a cocktail of Covid drugs and they sent her home with oxygen. Lincare delivered one of those little carts with the "E" cylinder to use coming home and until they could deliver to the house. After we were home and settled in a bit, they delivered and oxygen concentrator, all the cannulas, tubing, and another couple of cylinders to use in case she has to go to a doctor's appointment or something. My quarantine is up tonight and I am able to go back out tomorrow with a mask and the normal precautions. Kathy is quarantined for 10 days. She seems to be doing very well. Can't keep her down. I had all the housework done and laundry completed, but when she got home I put all her laundry from 5 days in the washer. She insisted on drying it, folding it, and putting it all away. Our best friends brought food. I won't have to worry about cooking much for several days. They brought spiral ham, croissants to make sandwiches with, a large chicken mushroom casserole, a big macaroni salad, a tub of home made chicken salad, a box with 1/2 dozen chocolate frosted, custard filled donuts, a tub of home made hand dipped coconut mounds candies for Kathy, and a banana split cake with whipped cream frosting. So much for my diet for the next few days. I have a turkey breast thawing for Christmas dinner and for sandwiches for the foreseeable future after Christmas day. I had bought an 11lb ham that I put in the freezer and may take out for New Years depending on how we are feeling and whether I have my sense of taste back by then. I have tried to continue to eat a regular and balanced diet although I can't taste or smell a damned thing. Last night I cooked a mashed potato, a couple slices of ham, some french style green beans and a small salad. I stood in front of the refrigerator trying to choose which variety of salad dressing I wanted. I finally remembered that I can't taste anything and put a splash of a cheap store brand Italian dressing on it. Didn't taste a thing, haha. I love to eat and have carefully been following a well rounded and balanced diet. I am still portioning the food, and insuring a balanced meal, but it just satisfies a limited hunger. When you can't taste anything you really don't have an appetite or desire to eat.

I am so happy for you Clipper that Kathy has returned home. The love between the two of you is what unconditional love is all about. It has to be interesting eating and having no taste! But regardless make sure you and Kathy keep up you dietary needs since that is most important for good health. Mend well to the both of you.
I use Lincare also for oxygen,. I have the concentrator and some bottles for oxygen from the last time I had pneumonia. I guess eventually they will pick them up. I am glad my Doctor never told them the I could the cost is crazy. Like 500 dollars and I forgot if that was for one month or three months. Either way I would never or good ever pay that.

A person could never find a better partner to go through life with. It is definitely unconditional love defined. I was reading her discharge orders. They diagnosed her with Covid pneumonia when she was admitted. The nurse said that they fully expected to have to put her on a vent, and her chances were not good. She has made a miraculous recovery and I hope that she continues to feel better each day. She is one tough lady that is for sure. Other than the lack of the ability to taste or smell, and feeling dragged out and tired, I am doing fine. My quarantine is over tonight. I will be happy to throw off the chains, put on my mask and go do a couple of errands tomorrow. This being confined to the house, talking to her only on the phone and talking to the dog has been less than pleasant. The dog just looks at me weird and cocks her head, haha.

Considering you can't taste anything can I unload, er I mean send them to you? I can't eat them & nobody else wants them. LOL. Just kidding glad to hear Kathy is home & I hope you get your taste & smell back soon so you can enjoy all that food. You have some great friends.

Hahaha BHU. I hadn't thought of that idea but I have plenty of hot peppers around here. I should try some. I can discern salty, sweet, sour, and acidic, but can't taste any of the flavor of anything. It is a weird thing. I certainly hope it goes away soon. Christmas dinner is going to be a bit boring to say the least, haha. Maybe a blast of hot peppers would jump start the old taste and smell processes again.
